      Re: Phobias

I used to be afraid of snakes and some bugs. Then I worked in a museum taking care of snakes and bugs. After that, I wanted a pet rat snake.

I still have a fear of drowning, but it's mostly when I'm in fast-moving water or flood water.

I don't like extremely small, confined spaces. When I was a kid, two of my friends tossed me into a little crate and wouldn't let me out. So I broke their crate.

Crane flies. When I was little, I thought they were flying spiders. I still can't abide being in a room with one, I've always got to swat them.

Also, when I was little I couldn't go to sleep with the closet door open because in the dark it looked like a gaping maw that anything could come out of. Not so much a problem now.

Being in a car on a windy, mountain road where I'm the passenger. I can't stop feeling like we're about to go over a cliff any second.

Also people. They keep talking and looking at me.

Oh man, you probably wouldn't want to ride in the Triumph when I finish it then. Those sorts of roads are its natural habitat.

I got no problem if I'm the one driving it, it's just not being in control in a dangerous situation that freaks me out. I recently picked up a 911 for the exact same thrill on the nearby Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway).

My concern riding with you would be the inevitable chase and shoot-out from black choppers.

              Deep water, Ghosts, Falling.

I've also got a bit of a social anxiety problem but that's not really a phobia.

Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

                  Re: Phobias

Insects, mostly bees and, oddly, moths. I think I just don't like how moths fly around so unpredictably. I'm not so paranoid I can't kill them myself, but I have to struggle against the urge to run like hell, especially when dealing with bees.

I'm also scared of falling, even if it's just falling off a foot-or-two tall platform. It's probably due mainly to breaking my arm a couple of times as a kid.

                    Re: Phobias

Well, when someone has a true phobia about something, I don't think that they can even stand to look at the subject, even if it is contained where it can't get to them. So in that sense, I don't think I have any phobias.

I am very afraid of bees, wasps, yellow-jackets, etc., but it is because I have been stung many times in my childhood. We used to go camping a lot, and one time a bee got tangled up in the hair on the back of my head. The whole time my dad was trying to get it out, it was buzzing like crazy. I was screaming my head off and scared to death. At some point it stung me. Now I really can't stand to hear flying stinging insects buzzing around me, especially if I can't see where they are.

Another time, I was pretty young, and a bunch of my cousins and I were playing in my great grandma's back yard. I reached into a bush of some kind, to tear off a thin branch to use as a switch (apparently to hit someone, although I can't remember the exact circumstances), and a whole nest of yellow-jackets attacked my arm!! I must have gotten at least thirty something stings! OUCH!!! (No, it wasn't what I deserved! If I had actually been planning on hitting someone, it much have been because they had been hitting me for quite a while first! I am very non-aggressive by nature, so I must have had a good reason to do such a thing.)

However, I wouldn't mind looking at or watching bees and such, if they were enclosed behind glass or something, and they couldn't get to me.

I like ants, I think they are cool (except the red fire ants that bite!!) I'd like to have an ant farm some day. Spiders are pretty cool too. They help eat a lot of other insects that we don't want around. I try not to kill them unless I have to. Although, I do sometimes kill black widows. My sister had a tarantula once, and I used to hold it quite frequently. It never bit us.

I'm not really afraid of snakes in general, (at least non-poisonous ones). I have held several huges snakes before, some like 15-20 feet long and almost a foot in diameter. They feel cool to the touch, but they are not slimy. I would like to have a small snake as a pet, but I don't want to have to feed it live animals. I'm too much of a softy to do that.

I'll only list the top ten fears that keep me up at night.

                      2. Rape (of me or others)
                      3. Death (of me or others)
                      4. Losing a body part
                      5. Wolf Spiders
                      6. Seeing a ghost either in the mirror or standing right in front of me for atleast 10 sec.
                      7. Aliens and Alien abduction
                      8. Radiation and its effects
                      9. Sky diving but not heights
                      10. Life in general
