Re: The "I want to be a Community Advisor" topic

It was perfectly on topic, in what sense did it have to do with anything but the topic?

Community Advisor is a special staff position that gives you access to a private forum where you can take part in a decision-making process that will influence everything that happens here. It's open to almost anyone who is active with either the RPG Maker software, or the RPG Maker community.
You rather explicitly stated that it didn't pertain solely to the game forums, or am I continuously misreading the entire premise of the topic over and over again? I'm sorry you can't handle light criticism on your decisions from someone who is slightly depressed that he can never seem to find a reason to post at forum he cares a lot about.

"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."

Re: The "I want to be a Community Advisor" topic

This topic is for people who want to be part of the project, not for questions or criticisms of the project.

If you want to criticize the project, then do it in a different topic. Thats not what this is here for.

      EDIT:
I'm sorry, I have no right to say "I don't care for criticisms" and all that crap. The very nature of my position here requires that I care about every criticism people have. I am in this position only because it's what the community decided, after all.

But again, this isnt the right topic for it. please make a topic for it if you want to discuss it.

If I started posting agian, I wouldn't mind trying to be an advisor.

If you think you can do better, Garr, then by all means, apply.

If not, then you at least owe it to the board of Advisors to wait and see what we do in the next few months before complaining.

              I honestly don't believe you'd contribute anything.

We'd have a hard enough time taking you seriously as it is.

Start contributing first. you've never helped anyone with anything here, you've rarely shown an interest in anyone's ideas here but your own, and that why you are denied.

I don't think I'd be taken seriously with my post count. But I am interested, if you need to ask questions or something, go ahead. If I am to new to be an advisor, I guess I can wait.

Re: The "I want to be a Community Advisor" topic

I hope it's okay if I stick my two cents in here.

Simple Man, no doubt you've improved lately. You're still not at the level where you'd be a defensible choice as an advisor. Tone down your enthusiasm a bit, never take things personally, and carefully think over your posts before you make them--will it be helpful to the topic at hand, or are you posting just to post?

Valk said it best--you say you want to contribute things, so the best way to prove this is to contribute something useful. Put your work where your mouth is. Prove you can handle responsibility. It doesn't take Advisor status to contribute something. And I really hope you do pull this off, it would be a great turnaround story.

Apples, you've been great since you've been here. I don't think anyone has a bad word to speak about you. The short time you've been here will work against you, and the fact that you've had no presence int he RPG Maker Forums could hurt too. It's not my place to say whether or not you'll be accepted, but in case you're not, I just want to say, keep at it, because you're worthy, and it would only be a matter of time (and maybe some more participation in the RPGM side of things) before you make it. EDIT--Oh God, I got suckered. At any rate, this paragraph is no longer relevant.

I thought that might be the response. Maybe I'll check back later.

                                Thanks.
