Another in progress thread. A list of characters that I will bold as they are created and finished in the game, and I will update this post with bios and such.

Basic Personality : As a child, Gretchan was quite and soft-spoken, with a deep love for stories. She was never one for adventure, and dearly loved her father. As the oldest of two, she has always been more reponsible then her little sister Stephani, and assumed responsibility for the family when their lives took a turn for the worse. As an adult, she looses that innocence, and turns inward with the responsibility of raising her younger sister. She becomes somewhat cold and cynical, and one of the first atheists in her world.

I'm picking up a lot of Excel Saga from this post.

If I was the overly critical type, I might blab on about how names need to be original, blah blah blah and blah. I like Excel Saga in any case, so the names as I see them get bonus points, as it's something I'd probably do too.
If you'll notice my title, it's a pun on the game Darius Twin for Super Nintendo.
Although not many people would pick that up.

Anyway, where do you get the names for your characters? Do you tend to form them from games/whateverelseyou'veseeninthepast, or try to create something that maybe others haven't heard before?

It's something I've always had a little bit of trouble with, and wondered what ran through the minds of other people trying the same thing.

*snickers* It's good you have that impression. The side-quest is suppose to pay homage to Excel Saga, which to date is my favorate anime, and manga, and which I own all of. :D (Oh, Nabeshin, when will you make a second series?) So, that's why that story arch has the Excel Saga characters. IT's a purposeful thing. Plus you get some kick ASS items...as far as kick-ass'll go in RPGM3.

For my names. Since this was the first RPG I started thinking of when I got RM3, I kinda just went off of names of people I know, except I did something pheonomially amazing and changed the spelling of a few names. :D

Gretchan is the name of my boyfriend's cat, Joyc is his mom, Stephani is his sister. Liam and Elenore I pulled outta my butt, and Pepe the Puppy and Takara was the same. Pokey the Frog is a creation of my boyfriend's, and Connor is my dog. Paricia is my grandmother, with the t dropped from Patricia. Gavin is the name my boyfriend wants to name our first child, and Gage is the name of a friend's kid. Most of the time names just come to me, or I get them from people I know.

I tend to go to http://www.behindthename.com and type in some sort of meaning, and then go from there. I have an old baby name book that helps too. http://www.babynames.com is a good help, and Rodak once recommended using a Pharmasutical dictionary. So, really, with me, I choose something that fits. So, it just comes to me. I guess it's one of my strong points.

And yay for a too-long explaination.
