variables, modes, events, quest linking, field maps

ok, i know variables have been asked, i know quests have been asked, but i havent seen anything about linking them together, and i havent seen anything about towns and dungeons locked at gamestart and how to unlock them when linked to variables that are linked to the corresponding quest.

so, if u have Quest 1, and u want, at the end of it to unlock Town 836, how do u do that? as well as, if i want Quest 1 to unlock Town 836, and unlocking Town 836 offers an opening for Quest 2 and when finished unlocks Quest 3 to unlock Town 55 which unlocks Quest 4 and so on and so forth.

or, this. if u defeat boss 7, how do u link that to open up a quest which continues the chain of quests? and with all of these quests being completed when u unlock them, how is it possible for me to link them to a final quest that isnt unlocked utnil u complete each quest thats unlocked? so that way u cant just skp through everything and go straight to the end.

as well, how do i work modes? like, what am i doing to add a 2nd mode, and why would i do that? do u need multiple modes to multiple variables of linking things together? or do u just add multiple modes if a single object as multiple variables?

what if i wanted an NPC to unlock a quest or town/dungeon

also, is it possible to make field maps appear out of nowhere? like a quest triggers an event where u see a field map just appear, or like, if i use a small island, and a quest to trigger more land in another part of that same water, is it possible to create a masked effect of like erosion?

example. island 1 is all thats there, u go through a quest and when u complete it and step out onto the field map, (assuming this is a dungeon quest), an invisible event triggers so that u see another island look as if it raises up from the water, or just appear out of nothing? how would i set the variables, modes and events for this?

This is a question that you're going to have to discover the answer to yourself... I'd recommend learning a bit of programming logic... Basically, if you don't understand what this statment means:

      If x = 1, then y,

Then you're not going to get very far w/ this game.

What I'd recommend is this: Play the demo game... after you play each section of that game and events change and new dungeons open up, etc, you should go to the editor (with the demo data loaded) and check out what's going on... this is the only real way to understand how this works.

      Good luck.

well, ive already started to play around with modes, and i think im getting that by just playing with small events with NPCs and adding a second mode for a different event after you speak with another NPC. so by doing that, i figure small strokes for a big mountain.

Yeah, a lot of things have to be figured out by trial and error and just messing around with the programming. If it helps, here's a link to a Variable Sample Event. It has you talk to a PC, choose a coin, then drop the coin in the fountain. Depending on which variable has been changed, the result will be different. Feel free to check it out and send a PM if you have any questions. If you look under "Submissions" and "Tutorials" you'll find a Sample Event for Modes too. Anyway.

I sent the Mode one to you by private message, broken down in two parts.
If you need me to send the variable one. I can break it down and PM it to you also. Just send me a private message.
