I got a FIVE CENT raise!!!

I had to: the minimum wage in Michigan went up to $6.95. I AM MAKING MINIMUM WAGE! HOORAH!!! I am working with someone that is now being paid as much as I am and HASN'T GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL! I myself am one semester away from finishing my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. YAY! In nine weeks, I'm done with this minimum wage job!

Also, I think this minimum wage hike is a bunch of crap. Sure, the less-fortunate will be getting more money, but I have already heard some of the business practices that are being put in place to counter the increase. I think a lot of Michiganders are going to come to resent this in the long run.

I've never had a job that started you at minimum wage. Guess I'm lucky. Though I still haven't managed to break the $10/hr roof, though that better happen this month, as I'm up for my yearly evaluation which means I'll get a raise of some amount.

Oklahoma's minimum wage is only like $5.15 right now, and they're trying to raise it to $7.

I started at $1.35 over minimum wage, but now I'm at minimum wage. And I don't think I'm getting a raise because of the hike, either.

Where do you work Funk? How much knowledge to you have in computers?

I would search for a job fixing computers or somthing like that on your off time. (all, what? 2 hours of it?) It looks better on your resume than working at a local gas pump.

I work at Subway. I've got some possible jobs lined up after I graduate, though. I'm only working there for the time being because they work well around my schedule, plus I don't need many hours because I spend a lot of time studying.

I remember getting a ten cent raise once, when I worked at Thundercloud (another sub shop). I found that a more effective way to earn extra money was to put cartoon drawings all over the tip jar.

One time I went to Subway and they were like "Do you want this toasted" and I was like "no thanks!" So they gave it me complealtly cold, the thing is it was a meatball sandwhich. Somehow my "No thanks, don't toast it" got translated into "I want this sub, useally served hot, icy cold". And there was a long line and I only had a few minutes until my break was done so I didn't have time to get it fixed. So I ate it.

I don't go to Subway no mores.

I don't really know how much I make because I have direct deposit and never see a paycheck. But then I work for the school so I only have to pay one of the three tax guys. I want to say it's FICA. Damn you FICA.

The same thing happened to me back in Florida last year, Funk. I was up for an evaluation and got a "raise" to the new minimum wage. It sucked.
