Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii mirrored?

Since Link changed to his right hand on Wii... Looks like they might have flipped the whole game just for the effect. Take a look.

I stole this picture from some noob forum.

    Anyways yeah.... Wierd.

That's totally wierd.. Yep. The map on the bottom left corner is flipped too, except for the "Exit" on the top, which is now on the top right corner.

Like the visuals/colors of the E3 demo better.

I have no idea how in the hell I'll be able to play with my Wii, with a bad right hand/wrist.

I think the Wii picture looks a lot better then the E3...It seems to have stronger color then the bright E3 one.

Let me guess. They changed Link to a right-hander because 90% of the population is right-handed.

But what about the remaining 10%? Do they also have to play with their right hand? Is there an option to choose right-handedness and left-handedness? I'd actually choose left-handedness even though I'm right-handed, just because Link is normally left-handed.

You dont have to swing the controller around though... That is what makes it strange, ya you CAN swing it around, but you don't have to.

It won't matter, because it's not 1:1 movement.

Wii Sports uses 1:1 movement. EVERYTHING you do is translated directly into game. The exact angles, movement, speed, everything. It's meant to fully immerse you in the game, as if you were actually playing the sport.

As of right now, Zelda does NOT use 1:1 movement. Swinging the remote will not result in unique sword swings. Whether you twirl it over your head or just flick your wrist, he will use the same combo every single time. Kinda like trying to do the spin attack in Super Mario Galaxy. You just spam ovals on the screen and Mario will spin. You can't customize the spin, or the range, or how he'll move. It's just a replacement for a button basically. Things that don't use 1:1 movement, are basically using random movements in the place of buttons. There is no reason that pressing A couldn't work just as good for attacking as swinging the remote around like an idiot. Where as in Wii Sports, the remote is vital. Hell, even Excite Truck uses the gyroscope and makes use of the remote.

At least, the last gameplay video shown (not just the screen, but like a video of a guy playing a demo) showed a lack of 1:1 movement, and this was a very short time ago. Unless they are in the process of fully customizing Link's sword attacks (could happen). But Wii Sports has pretty crappy graphics, seems like it would take a lot of animation to get Zelda to have 1:1 movement and still look as nice as it does, but I don't know much about animation or how all that would work.

If Zelda had 1:1 movement, it wouldn't play as well, trust me.

Re: Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii mirrored?

But it would be kinda fun. You could go around and just poke things. And use the remote inappropriately and see if you could stab yourself in the spleen before doing a slash attack, or try to break your own arm or something.

And that's why without 1:1, the hand you use won't matter. Who cares if you're right-handed or left-handed? If all you have to do is blindly swing to get the same effect, what's the difference? I'm right-handed, and I can flail about like an idiot with my left hand just fine. All you have to do is swing it, it's not like this is a game about penmanship with no left-handed options, or an FPS with no Southpaw settings.

Maybe it's just another part that looks similar? That happens a lot in games. Anyway, it would be weird if they flipped the whole game and then the GC version wasn't flipped. All they need to do is flip Link around.

Interesting, considering that left and right movement have different connotations in the subconcious, I wonder if the different versions will have a different feel.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. I resent that statement sir.

I'm not sure they would go through all the trouble to mirror the game on one system though. They could have just mirrored the screenshot (though I don't know why they would do that either). Actually if you look at the maps on the bottom those are two different boards, however link does look right handed. With the maps the exit is at a different place, and the top is slightly different. So they probably just changed that particular area on both.

As for the feel, they would feel pretty different, as I know with racing games it takes a little bit to get used to racing on a course you beat easily once it is mirrored. Mainly because it conflicts with your memory of the original board, you would think it would be easy just to switch all the turns in your mind, but it isn't most of the time.

Ditto...I was going to give the original poster of that "left-handers into the sun" post some neg rep, but I know it was said in the spirit of fun. Flanders had the right idea by opening the Leftorium.
