    Devil May Cry 3

I totally missed the boat on this one when it first came out (as well as the rest of the series back in the day). I picked up the greatest hits special edition a few days ago because I had heard that it was incredibly difficult in a way that required you to progressively better your playing skills, which sounded pretty appealing in this era of games that pretty much anyone can beat. Having played the game almost to completion, I can say that it's not as hard as I've heard people claim, but that a few of the boss fights had me dying left and right. The combat is generally a lot of fun, but the puzzle and platforming aspects are terrible.

Did anyone else play this? What did people think?

I couldn't move my thumbs after playing that game.

The boss I really had a problem with was that chic that gives you the
Guitar.tHAT Attack where she tries to suck the life out you got the first couple of times.

The reason you're not feeling the difficulty BZ, is because you're not playing the original. In the SE, the difficulties were realigned, to the way they were in the non-US versions. So for example, Normal in the original game, is now HARD in the SE.

I love the game, the sheer flexibility of combat(try to stay in the air for more than 8 seconds!) makes the game addicting. While the puzzles aren't exactly mindbending, it breaks up the action a bit.

I'm going to play it again on the harder difficulties. I want something mind-numbingly, controller-hurlingly hard.

... so I was all jazzed when I got the guitar, but then I found out I kind of suck with it. Is it just me?

As far as control goes, it's the game. As far as effectiveness goes, it's you.

Nevan's pretty useful. It has good crowd control, and essential against enigmas(those glowing arrow shooting asses who slide too damn much!) on the harder difficulties.

I've been all about the Rebellion thus far. Probably because it's the most traditional of the weapons, so I already have some grounding using it from other similar games. I have a suspicion I'm missing out because of that.

I got Devil May Cry and when, in the intro, Dante gets a motorcycle thrown at him I was turned off the series forever.

Apparently you don't like things that are awesome.

So I guess Jet Li's The One where the picks up two motorcycles and smashes a guys' head between them is like super awesome then?

I haven't played any DMC yet, I feel like I'm missing out but up until GoW I avoided most action games.
I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

The only thing I didn't like was in the first scene how is is all like "Lets get this party started" and stuff like that... It just didn't seem... Dante. It was still a kick ass-scene though. I also liked switching difficulties randomly and getting more experience.

Isn't DMC3 supposed to be a prequel, though? So shouldn't it be showing what he was like BEFORE DMC1?

I couldn't accept the fact that the guitar weapon sucked, so I kept using it until I became a God damned pro with it.

Eh, for me it was more like I kept getting red orbs every time I died until eventually I got the move that I needed to beat the boss. Pretty much like levelling up. In terms of self-improvement, it was no Ninja Gaiden.

But still, I liked it a lot and should probably get the greatest hits version some time.

I beat the game not that long ago. I loved every second of it

Lady is pretty powerful for a human.

The action scenes were just great, with the over the top action you expect from the series.
