    I'm New

I'm getting a PS2 in a few months but I have a game in the works at a friends house. I just have a few questions that have been bugging me as I've read everyones posts. Thanks for anyone who answers them.

    1) Are there ways to change the colors of the Large Monsters?

    2) I have a scene with a werewolf character who is supposed to join the party after you beat the first boss. How can I set that up?

    3) What are invisible events?

    4) Is it possible to make the game without storytellers and still make the game interesting. I guess I just need an explanation on how to make a cutscene without any of the dull character pictures?

    5) What's the difference between Switches and Modes?

    6) And finally how exactly do you set up a decision event or can you make your character talk to NPC's.

Again thanks to anyone who can answer these for me. I've read all the posts and I'm still confused. I've never played RPGM I, or II so this is my first story ever. Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the Pavilion! I hope you enjoy it here. There is a sticky at the top of this forum that can answer alot of your questions, and you can find the discriptions for what you are looking for in your RPGM3 Manual. Try going here and reading through the FAQ, and you might find some of the answers you are looking for!

      Re: I'm New

      Hey, welcome to Pavillion.

      1) No

      2) Set up a battle event (event battle command) and after that code, add in the code "Join party" (under party control) and choose the wolf.

      3) Events you can't see, but still occur. Such as an invisible event you walk into.

      4) Sadly, the only cutscenes you can use are the storytellers. This is one of the worst flaws in RPGM3.

      5) Switches are just objects in dungeons that you can see, that'll change the value of a variable. A variable is just a number assigned to an object, used in events. Say, for something to happen, the variable has to be above
      3. Well, after a few commands where the variable rises above 3, that event will become active, or useable. Most games require variables.

      6) To make a character talk to an NPC, just use the display message command, or just type in a bunch of stuff on the message page. (I don't like using the second. The camera rotates and stuff.)
There's a few kinds of decision events: Yes and No, variable, and player choice. They're all under control in the events. Yes/No is just where you select yes or no, variable doesn't offer a choice to the player, but instead chooses an answer based on variables, and decision you can enter in the selectable options.

Am I the only person that likes Storyteller?

I liked Storyteller, but having it as the only way to have cutscenes was a bad idea.

I'm with Vessel of Jamos on this one. The storyteller is a good feature. I'm using it in my game for a variety of things. It would be nice to be able to move NPCs around (other than the motions they make while staying in one place). Anyway, welcome Jagged Glory.

Thanx for the answers Drazus. And thanx for the welcomes everyone. I'll be posting a lot more when I get my PS2 in October! I know that's a long ways away but that's when I'll really be putting my game into full circle. I'll have to rebuild it from the ground up but that'll will be way better. I still don't have a name for it but It will be something original.

Why will you have to rebuild your game? Just copy the data from his/her memory card.

                    Re: I'm New

I have to start over because I have a lot of changes I have to make. All of the events I made didn't work like I wanted them and I've got a way cooler Idea for the story. I finally have a name for it and I'll be adding more information as the months progress. I'm keeping the names of the characters/ Monsters but I'm changing a lot of the towns names and using the information on this website/forum to make the game better. It's in the RPGM General section under Siv Terra: Cataclysm.

My friends got a question for her game but her internet is down. She wants to know if there is a special PS2 camera that allows you to take snapshots of your games or if you have to use a regular camera. Please respond.

Only on RPGM2. You can use any digital camera and hook it up to your PS2 and use those images. But RPGM3 doesn't have anything like this.

Thanx! Anyways I have another problem. When ever I place water on my field it is in a gigantic hole and inaccessible. How can I make the water at the same level as the field? The V-mode confuses me so can someone help me with the V-mode and how to raise the water? I'd really appreciate it.

I believe that you have to lower the land.

There's four heights you can move the water level to: No water, low, med, and high. Just move the level to the closest height, then just modify your land to get what you want.
