I was wondering how you can create the following event : Let's say that a person won't let you inside a buliding and ,inorder to enter that building , you must collect a certain item or items of some kind, then, you've must talk to that person when you got the correct number of itmes needed to enter the place. How exactically do you do this? Does it have to do with variables or something and, if so, can someone explain variables to me in a very simple way because to me, ( and of coures Im guessing, to a lot of other people too, ) they are hard to understand. Thank you!

Re: Event Help
Hey heroftime555,
Welcome to the pavilion. You'll like it here.
Option 1- One easy solution is to set a treasure item up as the key to the house, so the house remains locked until you have that item.
Option 2- If you still want to go the route of collecting items to give to that man, you could also set up the man like this:
Mode 1
Man tells you get to get the items.
Modify mode to Mode 2
Mode 2 - (set with the treasure items as triggers to this mode)
Man lets you enter the house.
The only drawback here is that after giving you the first quest, the man won't say anything to you at all until you get all of your treasure items.
Option 3 - Using Variables
It's not hard at all once you get the hang of it.
Basically you would be setting it up so you the man gives you the quest, and you go get the items. When you find one item, you can come back to the man, and he'll say something. If you find two of the items, he'll say something differet, and if you find all of the items, he'll let you in. This is the best as far as smooth gameplay (and, from what I hear, memory capacity) is concerned.
I've tried to create a little sample event to help people see how RPG Maker 3 variables work. It's still in the submission stages, but feel free to check it out if you'd like.

There are other ways you can work around this too. These are just some suggestions.Last edited by Pagerron; 06-02-2006, 02:19 PM." I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. " - Jesus
