I didn't think Symphony of the Night was all that great.
Sure, I beat it, the whole thing, w/ the castle turning upside down, but come on...isn't the Castlevania gameplay becoming just a little bit stale? I borrowed the new DS one and I can't play it for that long...out of frustration of getting lost and just doing the same thing over and over again. The castlevania games are good, but I just don't have the patience to play through one again. I'm not having fun.
Graphics and sound are underrated...especially w/ this upcoming console war. Yes, gameplay is most important, but not all games are made by Miyamoto. Graphics and sound alone have gotten a great visceral response from me. Fight Night Round 3 and the footage of Rainbow Six: Vegas are great examples of these. You don't need a powerhouse processor to achieve this either...art style can make up for this. Hell, God of War 2 is one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen, and it's on PS2. Ookami & Killer 7 drew me in on their unique styles alone.
PSP is underrated as all hell. My bf picked one up recently and DAMN, I've had a more satisfying experience playing Syphon Filter: Broken Mirror then I ever did playing Mario Kart. I'm not saying that DS doesn't have its share of good games, but PSP also has its share of games that just aren't possible on DS. If they ever fixed their fragility issues (and maybe scale the prices down) I'd like everything about the PSP.
How perfect can a game be if there's so many complaints about it? That's what I think of when I hear people's problems with Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. Hell, I loved Wind Waker's gameplay (despite the horrid character style), but I stopped because I was sick of the terrible mechanics of sailing everywhere. I survived the boat trips because I had a computer w/ an internet connection nearby. No, putting coins on the way doesn't help, that's just sloppy gameplay. The last straw was making me find all those triforce pieces scattered all over the world...ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME?!?
There, I've said my piece.
