I Freaking Hate Dogs.

One of my cats, Sonya, passed away today.

When I was cleaning my house today, I was throwing trash bags out of my front door, when I seen a really big dog wandering around. I didn't think much of it, until later.

I heard my wife outside, screaming "Let go of my cat!!!". I pretty much knew then what was going on. I ran outside, with an amount of force I didn't know I had. I burst out of my door so hard and fast I sent one of our porch chairs aireborne.

I grabbed a board, ran after the dog, whom had my cat in its mouth, I jumped up and cracked the board over the dogs head. It was too late, and unfortunately all 9 of Sonya's lives were gone.



I hope nobody has to go through what I did today.

Oh God, that's terrible! I have a cat so I can't imagine that happening. I'm so sorry.

I know I shouldn't generalize dogs with the title of this topic, but I can't help how I feel at the moment.

So what happened to the dog? Did you wreak vengeance upon it?

Living on a farm Ive kind of grown up around pets being killed an attacked by other animals or people.

I hate to see pets go.

Its chained to a stop sign outside my house. We called the police, they came about an hour and twenty minutes after the call. They said they'll call animal control but that's all they could do, and the officer told us to just leave the dog there for now. I told him it was a stupid idea, in case the dog gets vicious and attacks someone that walks by, but he wanted me to leave it there.

...I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I never hated dogs, personally (actually am a dog owner) but it ****** me off that people can let their dogs wander freely to do such things. It's horrible and you shouldn't have had to suffer a loss like yours because of some asshole who couldn't keep his dog on a ****ing leash. (sorry, big pet peeve of mine.)

My greatest condonlences. (I'm sorry, I can't spell) I hope everything goes okay, and the dog is put down. It would be for the better. Who knows what he'd attack next.

if an owner claims the dog, you can sue them and have the dog put down - which is what is going to happen anyway i think due to violence and death its created.

My neighbor's dog killed one of my favorite cats when I was very young. I was really upset for a long time, and I actually wanted to hurt or kill the dog in question.

I love both cats and dogs, but people should not be allowed to let their animals roam around without leashes/direct supervision.

pretty much the same thing happened to me when I was a kid. I had a cat named Daisy who was killed by a neighbor's dog. my sister walked outside and saw the dog with Daisy in its mouth and screamed, and the dog dropped the cat and ran.

I'm so sorry for your loss. No one should ever have to lose a pet this way...

I really hate how inconsiderate morons let their dogs run free without a leash or supervision. Dogs belong in their owners' yards, NOT out roaming the neighbourhood with no one to supervise/clean up after them. I sincerely hope that you find out who owns this dog so you can take the appropriate actions against him or her.

No dog should be allowed to roam freely. Even if they're the friendliest dog in the world that would even let your kitten sleep on it. 'Cause your neighbors won't know if the dog is friendly or not, and they sure wouldn't want to take chances. (Not to mention, you never know what might happen to your dog if he's out loose. *remembers Blacky*) I hope the dog that attacked your cat gets what's coming to im.

(As a side note, I don't mind if cats are set loose, as they're normall not a problem. Or at least, not as big a problem as loose dogs.)

What's worse is that Sonya was part of a pair. Sonya and Princess were sisters from the same litter. Now Princess doesn't have a best friend anymore, and you can almost swear Princess knows because of how she acts.

That's really unfortunate. I've only had dogs even though I prefer cats. I'm not the one who decides on the family pets. I haven't lost a pet to an animal attack but I have had a few that were killed by cars or by people in far less accidental circumstances. Losing a pet is always horrible.
