    Can you guys do me a favor?

    I watch the news every morning while I get ready for work and every morning they show a class from one of the local schools reciting the pledge. A couple of days ago, they showed one of the spanish classes at one of the high schools reciting the pledge in Spanish... this has caused a HUGE ****ing ordeal here.

    People are so damn ignorant in this town, it just blows me the **** away. Since that airing, the station has received tons of hate mail stating how the pledge being said in Spanish is un-patriotic.

    I know this sounds stupid, but that station has posted a survey on this. If y'all wouldnt mind, I would apprciate it if you went to their site and participated in the poll. Right now, more than 60% say that its inappropriate... WTF???? I would like to see those numbers turn, that is of course if you see nothing wrong with people reciting the pledge in Spanish and you would be willing to poll.

            It's still the Pledge of alligance. It doesn't matter what language it is in as long as they pledge alligance to the flag of the United States of America. And that they are not puting up a spanish flag above an American flag that is upside down. Why do people no support the US of A and live here? I can understand not liking Bush but why do they hate the country because of him.

            Or maybe in Japanese.

            They must be pretty good at speaking spanish to do that anyways.

                    That's pretty stupid. What does it matter what language it's in? Isn't the United States supposed to be about freedom of speech and cultural diversity and the like?

                    It still means the same thing in Spanish. Geeze, people are dumb.

                      Why would people think it inappropriate? If anything, they should make all the kids learn the pledge in spanish.

                        I think it's inapporpriate that our pledge and national anthem are about the flag in the first place. Not the people, or the land, or the ideals, but the actual piece of cloth flag itself. That just seems odd to me. I've always thought "God Bless America" or "America the Beautiful" would make better anthems. Even "I'm Proud to be an American" would be good. Of course we'd still have the issue of God being in it but has there ever been a song about America that didn't mention God? And if we have to pledge to the flag why can't it be that cool one with the snake that says "Don't Tread On Me"?

                        Anyways, voted.

                          Well, this is America, I don't see how it would be inappropriate (although I would encourage everyone to speak the pledge in English). If hispanic people want to say the pledge in Spanish, then that's fine by me. In fact, if anybody wanted to say the pledge in their native language that's fine by me (otherwise, I could see how it can be inappropriate). Anyway, I agree with everyone and I voted.

                            Well we went up by 1%. Atleast we were able to change it some. Hopefully more people will join.

                              I don't see what the **** the big deal is...America doesn't even have an offical language.

                              We used to say the pledge in English and in Spanish everyday in elementary.
