    Cinematics

Whats the best way to show cinema with RPG maker 3? Event transitioning seems to out of the way, any personal techniques for making FF tactics style cutscenes?
And if you do an endurance race on gran trismo 3 A-spec, do you get a car for winning?

    Re: Cinematics

Depending on what you are attempting you will need to use event transitions.

I use auto events which transition to a character (after "adding mode") and put as many character animations and messages in that one character as possible.

Remember, you can invoke other characters animations from a single character and you can change the name in the message window.

I then transition to a third mode in the auto event which (after going back to mode 1) warps the party away. I often change out party members before and after (under a black screen) so it looks like a real "cut" scene in that you cut away to a different group of people and came back where you started.

    Have you seen this:

That's a temporary link. It should still be valid, but if it expired and you want to see it, post here!

It is a 26 MB mpg file inside an 8 MB Compressed Folder.

What The Fluff are you talking about?

    I don't have a clue.

Sounds like a question for the Video Game fans around here.

    Peace.

        Re: Cinematics

I'll try to have it up early tomorrow morning.

I have to switch my modem to the good computer to upload these things and I'm a little pressed for time.

Mornings are my best time for such things.

I think I even have another scene (mpg file) on that computer too. If I do I'll upload both.

        Peace.

        ====================

        EDIT:

I refreshed the above link and posted another scene in this thread:

        http://www.pavilionboards.com/forum/...7184#post87184

It seemed better to group them.

        Enjoy.

I watched it, it was really good, and I now see what you mean by character animations, and the amount of them you used to make it look like a cut scene, added a bunch of ideas to work with.
          thanks

            Re: Cinematics

So Rodak, are you saying that it's possible to have a "cutscene" with characters other than the party using auto events? I just don't know how to use auto events without them doing the same thing over and over, so I don't use them. Also, can you trigger a "cutscene" at a specified time, rather than using an event (invisible or otherwise) to trigger it? Such as...after a certain quest (done using variables, etc)...that night have the cutscene appear? Thanks in advance.

              Yup.

              That is what I'm saying.

Here is an example of a good cut scene (just beware of the farmer... he says the single most misogynistic line I ever wrote!)

And here is the scene with the frogs (imaged above). It is not as good, but it was my first one!!

Let me know what you think or if you have questions as to how anything was done.

              Peace.

Depends. You can't make it so that as soon as it turns night, the cutscene plays. You CAN make it so the first time in night you touch an invisable event, it plays.
                Hope that helped.

                    Re: Cinematics

                    Many thanks there KennyKen!

I had 2 files with the same name!

I offer a screenshot and mpg file service to others and that was for Doyleman's RPGM2 effort called The Farm Life.

                    See his forum for screenshots!

The new file is named farmer to prevent further confusion in the future.

                    Thanks again.

                    Peace.
