    Dragon Quest EIGHT

The game's out tomorrow. On top of Lost and homework I hope I'll be able to play it... but I'm sure I'll find some time. =)

I'm pretty excited. My first-ever experience with Dragon Quest was with that demo and I thought it was pretty swell. A traditional RPG game with exceptional polish. The colors... are so damn vibrant. The gain-skills-with-new-levels gameplay combined with the Toriyama art I can't help but be reminded of Chrono Trigger. I doubt I'll have a similar experience with DQ8 as I had with CT but I'm looking forward to fighting SLIIIIMES. EEEEEEEEEE.

As for the FF12 demo (which I'll probably crank through first) I guess we could use IRC's FF12 demo topic for that...

I played through the demo again to get myself excited. The level of detail in this game is amazing. I spent most of the time in first person just staring at a character, or the sunset, or the light filtering down into the well. Damn.
And there's tons of tiny little things too, like the way the hero curls his pointer fingers in when lifting a pot or barrel.

I am ready to explode here. This an Shadow of the Colossus were the two games I wanted this season. EEEEEE! ONE MORE NIGHT!!!

Edit: Eric-Jon Rossle Waugh of Insert Credit does a weekly round up of the games being released on Next Generation. He has some things to say about Dragon Quest 8 in today's article.

I have to wait until Christmas, but judging by the video review at Gamespot (of which it wouldn't show the whole thing for me), it will be well worth the wait.

I have a couple of the Dragon Warrior games for my GBC and those games kicked ass. I was told by Game Stop it would be out by today, but again they were wrong. I have been pretty excited for this game for a couple of years now, and I was pretty stoked to hear all of the extras that are being implimented for the American release. Even though it has Akira Toriyama art, I dont expect to be much like CT. And while most others didnt like the british voices in the demo, I think they fitted the game quite well. Now I just have to wait til tomorrow.

...D'oh. I screwed up the name of this thread when I merged it.

I owns Dragon Warrior I-III on GBC and Dragon Warrior IV on NES. I got rid of Dragon Warrior VII for reasons unknown. I'm currently hoping that some miracle will happen and we'll wind up getting the PS1 and PS2 remakes of Dragon Quest IV and V. But right now, I'm glad we're at least getting the new new ones.

I'm definitely getting this. My only DQ experience so far has been DQ Monsters for GBC, and I'd like to change that.

I'll get the other DQ games via Revolution.

Why is it if the release date is for today, it's not in stores until tomorrow?

                            Re: Dragon Quest EIGHT

Ships today, stores don't get shipment until maybe a day or two later if they're not real close to the factory. Even later if it's our Wal-Mart, which don't get game shipments except on Tuesdays, which means it wouldn't be in until next Tuesday.

My guess anyway. Could've already shipped beforehand, in which case it'd simply be because certain stores don't get shipments until later.

And it has occurred to me, if Dragon Warrior IV becomes available on Revolution, that kinda takes away from its rarity a little. Oh well, at least the cartridge will still be rare.

I understand the principle of it shipping today. I'm just saying that I remember once upon a time a game would come out on a certain day, and I could go to the store and pick it up that day. Now even thought a game is release on one day you can't get it until the next. New DVD's come out on Tuesdays. I can go to Best Buy and pick them up on Tuesday. It's an ingenious way of releasing things.
