    RPG Maker 4??

With the obvious success of the RPG Maker series. Do you think we will see a RPG Maker 4? Can you imagine what could be done if it came out on the PS3? With disks 8 times the capacity of a common dvd disk, the enhanced graphic capability and so on....would be the best yet. Would open up VAST amounts of possibilities. What are your takes on the concept?

New systems would only open up new possibilities. Doesn't mean any RPG Maker released on that system will be as great as people want. And with that, I will just say that I hope there will be an updated version of RPG Maker 2 soon, because 3 is an extreme PITA.

They really do need to make the next one more customizable. Not that I dislike RPGM3 or anything but it definately has some pointless limitations.
      Games:

SS World (RPGM2) Extravaganzicon Contest Winner
      A Ronin Story (RPGM3)
      SS World 2 (RPGM2)

My dream RPGM4 would be for the PS3. Have the graphics of slightly better than RPGM3, have the motion actions editing skills of FighterMaker2, have the VFX editor of 2 with tons of basic shapes and objects to create things properly. Have the scripting skills of #2 with even more options. Things like Arrays, and modifying strings by parsing and putting them together etc... No limits in action scripts, and customizable textures and things. Yaaaay, that would be awesome, don't forget every button customizable. And possibly multiple DBS styles, a turn and active one for sure.
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

That would be awsome except for the ps3 part. I am not planning on getting that for a long time. I won't have money to buy a ps3 until the ps 4 comes out and it only costs like 150 dollars at most. So I hope it is on the ps2. Because then I just need to buy the game. And how much do you want to bet that the ps3 will break right away. It will probably be as bad as the ps2 not reading disks and stuff if not worse. I could be wrong but as the newer systems seem to come out the more they cost and the cheaper they are built.

Same, I'm hoping for one more PS2 release before it moves onto a next-gen console. That way, by the time they do release one on whichever, I might be able to afford to get PS3 or Xbox 360 or whatever the RPGM will appear on.

I agree with you totally...the newer systems seems to be more expensive and of cheaper quality. They are trying to get as much as possible into the product but in doing so, the cost goes up so therefore something must be "cheapened" in order to keep the cost within the limits of the average consumer. Imagine a system with the best of everything...would cost a fortune and even then, the thing is going to act up or break regardless of how it is put together or what it is made of...nothing is unbreakable. Hopefully down the road products will become more durable and still remain in the buyable catagory for us...the consumer.
As for my views on RPG Maker 4 should there be one..one thing I would like to see is the change in the Monster selection. Seems kind of boring when you get to pick 1 of say 100 monsters but in order to create more...they give you the option of colour change in an attempt to make more monsters. They should keep the colour change but actually put in like 300 different monsters. I would also like to see the capability of making insert movies that could be run in the game. Might be going out on a limb here but my boy suggested the use of an eye toy to incorperate his own facial image into the game to be used on a character. So many things could be improved or expanded and with this new system, I see no reason why it cannot be done.

A character creation mode would be nice instead of the pick a color and pretend the character model is different one they have now, and maybe this one is too much to ask for. Actual cutscenes.

You should be able to use monsters as characters (including the really huge ones). That would be sweet.

Isn't this the third or fourth RPGM4 topic in the last month?

Seems so...I doubt the next RPGM will be on PS2. After all look at the failed RPGM3 with all those limitations. I'm looking forward to a RPGM for PS3 which with the blu ray disc which a ton more times than a dvd will have immense resources.

                        ...You haven't tried RPGM2, haven't you?

EDIT: Nevermind, I read that you have tried it. Well, RPGM2 is difficult, but it's almost limitless in its possibilities. It sounded like you're saying the RPGMs don't work too well on PS2. Aside from being unable to get far away from RPGM2's cartoony graphics, that's not really the case.

I think in one of those other RPG Maker 4 topics Valk said something about if they are going to release another one it will probably be on the PS 2. I can't quite remember but I think he did.

Also using characters for monsters is awsome.
And so would an actual character editor. Were you can choose different head parts to go with different armor.

Hey arn't the Blue ray disks the ones that don't read right in my PS 2. Just think of how much trouble it would be if they put it on that. I hope that they make the PS 3 read those better.

No, the blu-ray disk is an entirely new disk that the PS3 is using. You're thinking of the blue-backed CDs (which games like RPGM2 are on).
