The submission system is FINALLY working again. all games submitted are back on the site where they belong. there are too many submissions to name here (or remember), but there's new games and demos for both RPG Maker 2. just go and check out anything that isnt familiar.
Now comes the chat room restoration and the security patching on the (hidden) drawing board.
Our RPG Maker XP forum is open now, under the RPG Maker Workshop category.
I know I promised to do what I could to restore the lost topics from mid july to mid august, but I ended up deleting them. It was way too much trouble to restore topics that have in most cases already been restarted.
24 days until RPG Maker 3!
20 days until RPG Maker XP!

If it comes down to it, I'll just sell some of the games I received as gifts and don't really care for. But thanks anyway. I intend to order it the day it can be ordered.

Why don't you do what I did a month ago and download Limewire and then Download RPG Maker XP for free. Do it at your own risk though.

There is no talk of pirating any software, what's-so-ever, on this forum.
And discussing pirated software on a forum, that supports only legal versions of RPGM, is nice way to get yourself hated or banned.

September will undoubtedly be a great month for us.

Even though I'll be getting XP, I'm still interested in what RPGM3 will be like. 3 more weeks isn't that long.

I had no idea file sharing was pirating. :( I didn't mean to encourage piracy. Sorry.

Just ask yourself in the future "Is someone trying to make money off of the sale of this product, or has ever tried to make money off of this product?"
If the answer is "no", then it's okay to download it an share it with the rest of us.
If the answer is "yes", it's piracy, and don't think we won't turn your sorry ass in if we find out.
Piracy is the reason why it's taken so long for us to get RMXP in the first place, and is also the reason why we don't have either of its predecessors. It is also the reason why the legal version is going to be a $60 download.

I don't think 60 bucks is worth it at all. I'd only buy it if your into the PC versions of RPGM, otherwise the console version is probably where you should put your money at.
I feel so guilty I almost feel like writing Enterbrain an apology letter, but I think i'll spend my ink on writing my next rpg, bwahahaha.....eh?

Well, you have to figure that it's a tool that won't be a real huge seller, it takes a good amount of time for them to put together tools like this. You could almost compair it to programs that make it easy for you to design webpages, they are pricey, but thats because its a useful tool and take a lot a programing to make it flexable.
On top of all that the RPGMXP allows you to sell the games you make if you wish to do so, so in theory they are giving you a tool that you could make money off of. Not that I'm gonna do that.
So I personally think its worth the $60.
Also, I don't blame you too much for not being aware of the P2P downloads being illegal, you'll be surprised about how many kids I know that think P2P downloading is perfectly legal.

Heh, I do admit that I didn't really get deep into the game's features, I kind of went Game Informer on it and didn't like the graphics. Plus I felt uncomfortable sitting about a foot away staring into a monitor than sitting 5-6 feet away on my bed with a controller. I believe a lot of people will like it, nuf said.
Sorry Valk, this was YOUR forum about the submission board working and I totally distracted everyone with my piracy confusion. I hope I didn't make any enemies... :|

Yeah, people like it because you can put in all your own graphics and sounds, and recode if you want, so basically you can do whatever with it.

Of course, one area of curiosity. What is the Pavilion's position on using commercial music (I.E. Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest) in an RPGMXP game? Will you post games that include it in the sound track? Seems a little like an area that's worth addressing, considering it would essentially require giving the end user of the game the MP3 of the song, unless if you have to hack the game to be able to get at the sound track w/o being the creator.

I believe (and don't quote me on this until I can confirm it) that short, aproximately 30 second, excerpts from copyrighted material are permissable.
I learned that when debating making an independent film (but was stopped by money) (or lack thereof).
I assume the same rules would apply.
I'll look in to it and post what I find.
Peace.

In theory, if your not making money off of it, and your actions aren't causing the copyright owners to lose money off thier property, then it is legal... but this is the RIAA we are talking about and they are above the law.

because of legal reasons, the pavilion cannot host any games that use copyrighted music in their soundtracks.

midis are fine because they're not totally accurate recreations, and not the actual piece of copyrighted music.

I wonder if RPGMXP comes w/ music composition software.
Thanks for the clarification, Valk. Otherwise I'd get in Hella trouble right off the bat.
Nope, it dosen't, I'm afraid.
What about remixes of copyrighted music, like tunes from OCremix?
Misty

If I'm going to make an RPG on XP with MP3 music, I'll keep it on my computer for my own personal use and share it with my friends. You can make your own MIDI music compositions, I think, just so long as it isn't copied from other games.

Then I guess I'd better ask about copyrighted characters.
I plan on using Bugs Bunny and many more in my XP game (Looney Tunes vs Aliens). I also plan on making sprites from scanned model sheets which I have in art books.
This would be illegal were I making money on the game, but since that is not happening I am unsure.
If it can't be hosted here, that's understandable. But I might as well find out now.
Peace.

copyrighted characters are fine. the only reason I won't allow MP3s of copyrighted music is because I dont feel like getting into a petty legal battle with the RIAA.

Great!
I'll just hum the Looney Tunes theme to keep you out of trouble.
Ya never know.
Peace.
Hmm... Hey, Paul, what about music you make yourself based off game tracks?
