    Final Fantasy XIII-2 CONFIRMED - KH3DDDD, Agito = Type Zero, Versus XIII~*~*~*

    http://scrawlfx.com/2011/01/square-e...-xiii-2-domain

Square Enix registered a Final Fantasy XIII-2-related domain two days ago. The URL: finalfantasyxiii-2game.com. The registrar used to register the domain is Corporation Service Company, whom Square regularly use to register their domains (see mindjackgame.com).

In late December, it was discovered that Square Enix had trademarked Final Fantasy Type-0.

On January 18th, Square Enix will hold their 1st Production Department Premier press conference, where we’ll see the debuts of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3DS, and other titles. We’re expecting new game announcements at the conference, as well.

We’ll see how it all goes down next Tuesday, when the conference is held.
    Let the trolling commence.

      It probably was in Japan.

I just don't think the world needs anymore Final Fantasies. give us an HD remake of Brave Fencer Musashi, or, better yet, develop a new IP that doesn't suck butt. stop going back to the well over and over and over and over again.

Um, wasn't FFXIII going to be a "trilogy" of sorts anyway? They could just be taking all possible sequel names as domains in case they change the name between JP/EU/US releases.

The development for each title is being handled within Square Enix through separate teams. This is reflected in the approach to making each title independent from the others while sharing a common backdrop. However, the character designs for the three officially revealed games are by Tetsuya Nomura, who is also the director of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Each title will have its own style of gameplay: Final Fantasy XIII is an RPG, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is more action-oriented (similar to Kingdom Hearts) and Final Fantasy Agito XIII is an action-RPG (similar to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) with multiplayer elements.

Square Enix president Yōichi Wada likened the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation to that of the likes of Star Wars and has stated that it could span a decade. Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama stated in the PlayStation Magazine Australia that the Fabula Nova Crystallis series is slated to be a multi-platform series, not exclusive only to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PSP.
This was super old news. Thinking FF13-2 is somehow not part of the plan from this is pure speculation (until Magus set me right with some old fashioned domestic violence...) Who's to say they didn't drop the "versus" or "agito" title and just decided to name it FFXIII-2 and FFXIII-3?

This is good news, I liked 13.

Japan liked it too. So did some of Europe. NA was the place everyone hated it.

I want to respond to that with "And with good reason", but I've honestly been avoiding the game and thus I can't actually give a legit opinion. Could someone who has played it respond with "And with good reason" for me?

Isn't it practically a new IP each time already besides the title and a few trace elements like chocobos and somebody being named Cid.

Used to be the gameplay was the same, too. IMO, these newer titles should be spinoffs, or an entirely new series of Final Fantasy.

So we'll call FFX, FFXII and FFXIII: Final Fantasy Enlightened I-III.

And we'll call FFXI and FFXIV: Final Fantasy Online I&II. Which is what they should've been called in the first place, but I digress.

                    I didn't play FFXIII.

Nor will I be playing this.

I remember when Squaresoft wasn't all about the money, and was still called Squaresoft, and they made being square sound like a cool thing with their fancy "The World is Square" motto.

Now they're like, "We're Square-Enix. Buy our games."

Out of curiosity, at what point did they decide to be all about the money?

                        I can read FFXIII wikipedia's too~

Art director Isamu Kamikokuryou revealed that many additional areas that were functioning in an unreleased build during development, such as Lightning's home, were left out of the final version due to concerns about the game's length and volume.[59] Kamikokuryou additionally stated that the volume of content cut was, in itself, enough to make another game.[59] Toriyama stated that the cuts were made in "various stages of [the game's] development" and that some of the content was removed just prior to the game's completion.[53]
Aside from the Fabula Nova series of games, there've been threats of a direct sequel/prequel as well for a while.

Nice. Thats the easiest +REP I've given in awhile.

I stopped paying attention to FF13 8 hours in, I knew it was meant to be in three parts, so I assumed it was that. Thanks for paying attention to a game that ruined my image of the franchise and don't care to read up about. Notice though the question mark at the beginning of my reply--It was a question--not a statement.

Can I get an ice pack?

Japan bought it. Japan bought record amounts of it. But you'd be hard-pressed to prove that japan, as a whole, actually liked it. Professional reviews were high (square is widely believed to have bought the reviews), player reviews are incredibly low, and some stores eventually stopped buying used copies of it due to the used copies they were already flooded with not selling.

Which then prompted square to tell people to hold on to their copies, suggesting DLC was on the way.

of course, square later said all plans for DLC were dropped. So they probably just wanted used copies to stop flooding the market.

                              C'mon, Square only bought Famitsu~

Everyone buys Famitsu. It's not the 90s anymore, when a Famitsu review meant something.

Who else did they buy? Professional reviews are high over here, too. Did they buy Jeremy Parish?

It's a divisive game. It's not like Final Fantasy never had one of those before.
