So after some dabbling and tinkering I have concluded that it is remarkably easy to run a server provided everyone willing to play on said server uses Hamachi. For those that do not know, Hamachi is a networking application that allows users to connect to private networks and it assigns each machine in the network an IP. The server host can use that IP and the standard Minecraft port to then host a server.
Currently, I host a server for a few close friends and it works swimmingly. While I would be willing to indefinitely host the server, I'm afraid I would be over-extending myself and it would wear my bandwidth too thin for an enjoyable experience for all. Because I can't just stop hosting the server I have now.
So with that, I would like to propose that we create an official Pavilion Minecraft server and encourage anyone with a decent upstream to volunteer their services to this noble cause.
...Because Minecraft is 10x better when you're playing it with friends.
