Lara Croft is a teenaged boy!

Well, not really, but the cover of the new Game Informer made me do a triple take (literally) to decide if I found her attractive or not.

Screenshots from the game itself within the article portray her as feminine, but that cover...

Are... are you serious? First of all, she looks feminine enough on that cover. Secondly, here we are, a bunch of Internet guys, judging her character on her attractiveness. :V

Well, I of course found her attractive. It was a matter of kinda feeling weird in doing so. Probably because (facially), she sorta looks a bit like Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry.

Well she's also like a teenager now, I heard.

          So there's that.

          Not like it'll stop you.

I'm personally excited, and this is a good move. While Legend and Anniversary were awesome, and I haven't though want to try out underworld, CD were fooling themselves if they think they can out-uncharted uncharted.

I'd like to see this next game be exactly what I see from that picture, a young scrapper having to fight for her life in the midst of a shipwreck in a chilly wilderness. Searching for warmth and food. Fending off predators. If they want to throw in stumbling across some ancient mystical **** a la usual Tomb Raider fare I suppose I'm down for that. It could be really awesome.

But, then again I'm kidding myself if that's the game I really think they're gonna do :V

EDIT-a lot of folks on the internet are pretty up in arms over the idea of this reboot and I'm not entirely sure why. While I really liked the Mission Impossible-esque setup they had in the past few games where she had a team operating out of her mansion, watching her moves and offering tips and banter, I don't disagree with the idea of a new origin for the character. This is like the first time they are actually going into what her very first adventure would be, anyway, so it's not like a retread. :B

A reboot doesn't bother me. They've done it before. It kinda sucks that the previous story goes unresolved, although CD managed to weave the original game into their story, they could do the same with this one.

And I agree that what Lara Croft desperately needs is vulnerability, both in character and gameplay. There's a lot of untapped potential there that could differentiate the series from its action rivals, especially since the heroines of the Mirror's Edge and Beyond Good & Evil franchises seem to be stuck in limbo.

Faith was like, an idea of a good heroine, not actually a good heroine in and of herself. She didn't get a lot of development besides her appearance being a departure from typical female character design.

I like the premise, and think it should be fun.

                  New DmC looks tight too.

Max Payne 3 looks like dumpster.

That's more than Lara Croft had going for her when she first arrived. I'm just saying there aren't a lot of open avenues for vulnerable heroines in the action genre and this would be a great opportunity to seize on that.

The problem with being vulnerable in an action game is that sooner or later you have to attack the enemy... which doesn't add to the feeling of vulnerability.

oh, and i actually think lara croft looks more attractive in this installment easy. instead of looking like a barby doll, she looks more human with a softer face.

and honestly, the more human relatable characters such as Alyx Vance and Elena Fisher I find are more attractive in my eyes~

Oh and I agree, the switch to actual human features does make her look more attractive and appealing. No more ridiculous slug lips. Maybe one day all game characters will appear realistically instead of looking like either Barbies or Frank Miller mutations.
