Uninformed Videogame Reviews

As many of you know - I have been developing the character of Jerry Bloop for well over a year now. He's a manchild from a broken home that attempts to make sense of the world in his own way.

As a few of you know, I used to write a column called "Uninformed Reviews" on my Julius Bloop website where I basically made jokes about games and movies from the perspective of someone completely oblivious to their actual content.

Anyway, I've combined these two concepts and here's the first video of Uninformed Videogame Reviews by Jerry Bloop. Enjoy.

Sounds kinda like the Something Awful Truth Media reviews, but I'm saying that without having watched this. Could be less similar than the basic premise makes it sound.

Where do you keep your character costumes?

I picture a big chest filled with glasses, wigs, sweaters and other props.

Except a weirdo lives there and talks to drunk people passed out next to it.

That was pretty good, but if i may give some constructive criticism. I found myself wanting to skip through certain parts, it kinda seemed to ramble on at a couple of points, and the voice, which i'm sure is the point of the character, is kinda grating.

I did laugh at a couple of points, and i had skipped over about 20 seconds, but had to go back and see what his "nightmare of nightmares" was.

All in all, i think it was a good first video, and to be honest, it was a helluva lot better than anything i could ever do.

Edit: I do have a couple of questions. The stuff you posted from the games, were those just gameplay videos you found, or screen captures from you or someone else actually playing, on a few of those?

Constructive criticism is most constructive when you are familiar with the videos and are able to tell who made them.

I do appreciate your honest critique because I assume those unfamiliar with the character might have similar reactions.

I don't find the voice grating, though - I think its an important part of his overall wonderment and innocence. He's an autistic manchild with little to no life experiences.

I also didn't think I rambled much - there were subtle jokes and character points interlaced throughout the dialogue. I will try to tighten up a bit in the future, though.

The clips I just ripped from youtube. I literally don't own these games so I can't capture them in any way.

HRAFN, I don't know what the Something Awful bit is you're referring too. Maybe if you watched the video you can tell me if it's the same premise.

Yeah, sorry, i wasnt familiar with any of the previous stuff from Jerry Bloop, now that it has been explained, i think the character and video is pretty good, and i think you achieved what you were going for.
