    Michael Bay + Ninja Turtles = ...?

    http://www.deadline.com/2010/05/plat...ch/#more-44238

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon have brought Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form on to produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the live-action film that reboots the film series launched by New Line in 1990. Bay, Fuller and Form will produce with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick.

The producers will begin meetings with writers in the next few weeks. The deal puts Bay in the center of two Paramount franchises, as he started production May 17 on Transformers 3, and is zeroing in on Rosie Huntington-Whitely to replace Megan Fox as love interest for Shia LaBeouf. TNMT, a co-production between Paramount and Nickelodeon, is an outgrowth of the $60 million acquisition made by Nick last October for global rights to the entire Turtles franchise. Right around the same time, Paramount made a first look deal with the Platinum Dunes partners, who will generate genre projects but also want to expand their scope. While they've already set up several projects including a Rob Cohen-remake of Fright Night, the Turtles film puts them into new territory.

I wonder if they'll have actual turtle masks with working facial mechanics, or if it'll be CG?

*Watches a Michael Bay produced TMNT film*

*Insert joke #47 about Micheal Bay and 1 billion explosions
for 90 minutes of the film*

On a serious note, hopefully Platinum Dunes won't mess
this up like the Friday the 13th remake(?) and the Elm Street remake.

At the same time though I rejoice that a live action film is
finally going forward. Even if Nickelodeon is attached as well.

I think the Transformers franchise is perfect for Micheal Bay.

As for TMNT though, I don't know. I won't lie, I'd probably get off on seeing a high budget turtles movie, but I don't know if I'd be satisfied over time with it.

I'd be perfectly fine if it captured the silliness of the first two movies and all the turtles got equal treatment.

Because the last turtles movie was totally a Raphael flick.

The bits and pieces of the last TMNT movie that involved Leo and Raph were the best TMNT movie though.

This new thing will be a travesty of course blah blah :V

Michael Bay, why must you always stick your gnarled penis into my childhood? How are you going to incorporate 600 million dollars in explosive special effects into TMNT? Why did you get rid of Megan Fox as Shia's love interest? She said "I love you" and he's all "I's 'a comin' back to lifez!" Who else will serve as eye candy? WHO I SAY?!
The ball is in your court, Mikey. Your serve.
What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?

For someone who brags about his freshman high school summer reading list so often you sure don't give the impression like you read. At all.

Valk posted a link and a quote, so you wouldn't even have to click the article, that said who would replace Megan Fox. Someone named Rosie Huntington-Whitely. A quick Google search confirms she's another hot airhead, ensuring a seamless transition no one who enjoys Transformers movies will notice.

A TMNT movie with an actual budget could be rad (Shredder, Krang, Dimension X, Baxter foot soldiers, maybe some ACTUAL NINJA FIGHTING -- or ****, a film version of Turtles in Time HOLY FFFFFFUUUU--) but I don't expect a good one, ever.

Another thing most of us have to realize a lot of the stuff we loved as kids, it's not targeted towards us anymore. They can **** us 20/30somethings who first grew up on TMNT or Transformers or Karate Kid or Sonic for all they care.

Ever talk to a kid about Star Wars? All they know is Clone Wars ****. It's awful.

C-o-n-t-i-n-u-i-t-y. Continuity. That's all I care about. I know that Michael Bay is getting a new hot chick. But what are they supposed to say? "Weeeell, once the whole 'saving the world' bit happened twice, their relationship just didn't have the spice." I mean the character, not the actress.

The cheese was the appeal. Throwing millions of dollars into a TMNT movie I don't expect to be serious just seems a pointless endeavor. But I could be wrong, look what they did with Godzilla and the last TMNT movie.

Doesn't mean Michael Bay has to bend it over and call it his *****, Magus. Which he's going to do, and we all know it.

Clone Wars? I thought there were only three movies from the late seventies/early eighties. No, definitely no Star Wars movies after 1990.

Again, you willingly ignore how making a film works. Recasting happens all the time. Katie Holmes replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal in Batman, Terrence Howard replaced by Don Cheadle in Iron Man, Harrison Ford replaced by a stoned out grandpa in Indiana Jones.

I doubt anyone but the stupidest and fattest of idiots is gonna miss Fox.
