    hi all from a newb

Newbie here, been interested in RPG making for a long time but now getting serious about it.

Very interested in RPG maker, just picked up copies of RPG Maker 1, 2 and 3
(well had all 3 in the past but traded them in --but now keeping these copies for good.)
(Also own RPG Maker VX for PC)

    Currently using: RPG Maker 3

    Systems used:
PS2, PS3 (slim not backwards compatible with PS2 games )

most wanted accessory: Max Drive (apparently rarest thing on earth these days)

Also I have used the username "djutmose" for years its been my email since like ... 1995 or something... never found anyone with a similar name on forums until now. Yes Thuthmose is the same Egyptian name basically, written differently ... but I am a newb and not a mad scientist/electronics genius like the other guy

    Welcome, sir.

also, good luck getting a max drive. ebay is your best bet ("action replay max" also works, I believe)

despite the PS3 slim not working with PS2 games, I'm pretty sure you can still connect the sony memory card adaptor to it, and use the PS3 to convert your files into psv format, and then transfer them to a USB storage device, and from there, to your computer. You can also do the reverse to put the PS3 format RPGM1, 2, and 3 games we have here onto your memory card.

Ah. Finally my arch nemesis speaks.

      j/k

Welcome to the Pav. And I'm trying to remedy the problem with rare DexDrives & Max Drives (link). But Valk's suggestion should work too.

I was wondering when you'd get around to posting, I was curious about your name. Thutmose is much more common a username than Djutmose. Most people tend to use the Greek-influenced pronunciations and spellings of Egyptian names, rather than the transliterations. So your username was a pleasant surprise.

Valkysas: Thanks! I ordered the Action Replay Max off of Amazon, didn't realize that could also do Max Drive Saves! Great!

Now if I really get into the RPG maker thing maybe I can justify paying for one of those ever-so-rare backwards compatible PS3s.

Thutmose: The name 'Djutmose' came from a screenplay I co-wrote a long time ago, about an ancient Egyptian immortal fighting a goth necromancer dude in New York (We wrote that in the mid-1990's, can't you tell? Very edgy and dark it was. "Crow meets Highlander.")

But I've used Djutmose for my usernames ever since, including on Xbox Live and PSN, no one ever knew what it meant before now. I wondered if I should use it here but I figured I could always change it if it was a problem.

I welcome you to the community, and welcome your small avatar. Aside from Alzar, yours might be the smallest here.

Which I can appreciate. It so far makes you stand out a bit, especially as you are a newbie. Enjoy your stay, good sir!

How sad. What kind of poor, history and book-deprived, person wouldn't know what Djutmose means? I blame public schooling.

It's refreshing to see anyone with an Ancient Egyptian username that isn't something cliché like Imhotep (taken from The Mummy movies) or Ramses (taken from the condom :P).

Naw. We just have the same name:

They are both spelled the same in Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs, but its transliteration and pronunciation in English and other modern languages differs (i.e. it's the same ancient name spelled and pronounced differently in modern times). Basically, "Djutmose" is probably closer to the original way the Egyptians pronounced the name (an interpretation based on the Egyptian Coptic language, which is descended from the ancient language of the Egyptians), and "Thutmose" is based on the Greek interpretation of the name (and the Greek-influenced pronunciations/spellings are more common).

                  Sooo.... uh... yeah.
