RPG Tsukuru DS arrives at the RPG Maker Pavilion

Hey everybody, look what I got!

I'll start harvesting info tonight. If there's anything you want to know, tell me in this topic and I'll do my best to answer.

A REMINDER: Me having this doesnt mean it's coming to the US. I got this to do a feature like the RPG Tsukuru 4 one, but in a far more timely manner. I feel I need to stress this because many people thought that my RPG Tsukuru 4 feature meant RPG Tsukuru 4 was coming out in the US. Of course, showing our interest in a game certainly can't hurt it's chances at being picked up for localization. but as of right now, I have heard absolutely nothing about it being released outside of japan.

What kind of touch screen machanics can it do? Placing tiles, typing keyboards, drawing graphics, menu navigation? Do you use touch screen stuff during a test play?

I was going to order this.... then the district screwed up and I didn't get paid this month. >_<

Granted, I don't know any Japanese and that would limit my understanding, but I'm still curious about RPG Tsukuru DS.

How does game trading work? Sprite customization? What about the tilesets - how wide a variety is there to choose from? What about DSi camera functionality?

Though, I'm sure everyone want's to know everything. :P

If it came to the US, then I'd definitely buy it.

Wow. First off, RPG Tsukuru DS is not recognized by my US DSi. that sucks. regional lockout on a DS game. laaaaaame.

Gonna have to play this on the DS Lite. won't be able to test camera or mic use.

The only game trading method I can talk about for certain is the one the manual shows with nice pictures.

DS Download Play. which you just send your game over to a friends' DS. They don't need RPG Tsukuru DS to play it. They cannot save, and if they turn the system off, the game is erased.

There's two slots for saving games, so I would assume that's so you can get one from a friend over Nintendo WFC (thus the icon on the package) and still have your game. But I dont know for sure, since the manual doesnt show any screenshots about that.

Not that it matters a whole lot. There's Action Replay models that you can manage saves with. if this ever came to the US, we'd be using that, I'm sure.

Character creation looks to be pretty damn great. there's 12 slots for custom characters. These are not drawn with the stylus, but instead assembled. You pick one of 41 heads, you pick one of 41 bodies, and then you pick one of 33 accessories (blank, bear hats, flowers, masks, glasses, capes, wings, swords, etc.). while editing your character, a preview sprite walks around the top screen, letting you see it from all angles. No way to edit the colors.

pre-made characters clock in at 42 people, two robots, a dog, cat, horse, flame, slime, fairy, skeleton, ghost, goblin, dragon, a MINOTAUR, 3 monsters I can't really identify, a knight with a skull type helmet, a boat, a hot air balloon, and what looks like a mix between an airship and a jet. the pre-made characters have four color variations each.

          there are 41 portraits.

for game use, there are 8 pre-made party members, complete with names, bios, stats, skills.

You are limited to 8 party members through your entire game.

You can control the editor however you want. stylus only, buttons only, or a mix.

edited above post with new info rather than posting a new post because I'm dumb.

pictures will have to wait until I do the feature on this game.

Awww. I read on Play Asia that there was no region protection.

Too bad about the lack of color control, but it sounds like there are tons of options, anyway.

              Cool.

What about the maximum memory limit? i.e. how big of a game can you make?

                I made my first character.

Well, there isn't for the DS Lite. But maybe DSi enabled games are region protected. when I put it in my DSi, it says "There is nothing inserted in the Game Card slot".

What about the maximum memory limit? i.e. how big of a game can you make?
memory is always displayed at the bottom of the top screen. when starting on a blank file, it says 125532.

don't know how much memory different things are gonna take yet.

I guess it doesn't come with a sample game?

I read that you can connect to some kind of data server over wifi to download new, official, graphics? Have you tried it out?

                        Hmmm.

I was wondering how they might handle the DLC stuff. It may be possible to get your own custom graphics put in. I wonder if it encrypts the image data.

If you can sniff the WiFi signal and figure out the protocol, then you might be able to spoof a signal and send your own data to Tsukuru DS to get your own custom stuff on it.

                        Just a thought.

                            Okay!

DLC currently contains 6 pages of 8 items each, and one page of 3 items.

contents are characters (chicken! penguin!), monsters, portraits, item graphics, and a sample game.

downloaded the sample game. gonna play that.
