Re: VVVVVV
What I liked about it, was that the developer took one mechanic and expanded upon it as much as he possibly could (or at least that's the impression the demo leaves). There's absolutely no "filler" and it demonstrates how much you of a game you can make without a superfluous warehouse of abilities to use whenever the situation calls for it. I'm looking at you, Zelda.
Full asking price for the game is at $15, and while it almost seems like the game that would be free I absolutely love what I'm seeing. It might be $5 too much, though, for what it's worth.
EDIT: Oh hey, look, Destructoid gave it a 10. Go read.Last edited by Toaster; 01-31-2010, 04:29 PM.

Re: VVVVVV
The game's okay, but I'm not sure that it's worth paying for. I'm 90% sure that I've played the same gravity reversal mechanic in another flash game before.
And yeah, the controls are incredibly oversensitive.Last edited by Vanilla Iced Tea; 01-14-2010, 07:08 AM.

Re: VVVVVV
So, hey, I just beat this game. It got to be really difficult at spots. But guys, this game. This game.
If you were on the fence about VVVVVV at all, and you liked the demo (but were not frustrated with it) then you need to buy it. Right now. It's positively dripping with charm and brilliance. The level design, while at times seemingly masochistic, is never unfair about it like I Wanna Be The Guy. Checkpoints are generously scattered throughout the game, and the music is so damn catchy you'll want to stick around. The only thing that bothers me is how the character kind of flies across the screen with just a little bit of input, but you get used to that quick enough.
I'm going to collect all the shiny objects and once I'm done with that, play it all over again. It's that ****ing good.Last edited by Toaster; 01-27-2010, 04:26 AM.
