    That was awful.

vBulletin 4 is garbage. let no one tell you otherwise.

Overtaxing the server, being unusably slow, spitting out random database errors, making all the thread data vanish (it was still there, but the forum software just refused to read it) and just full of very stupid bugs that didnt exist in the beta.

However, I will continue to work with it, in the hopes that it is eventually made not-awful. but that will be behind the scenes, and it will not replace this setup until I know damn well that it's ready. It will be the evil mirror version of the site, hidden from view, where we all have goatees and are extremely nice people.

Goddamn though, it feels good to be back here. this whole place just feels right. I missed it so much. that soulless, boring husk that is vb4's default style (and the arrangement of everything) was hard to put up with.

This though, I will put my arm around it, hug it, and occasionally grope it. Often.

Forum will be closed YET AGAIN some time this week so I can upgrade it to 3.8.4 which works absolutely fine (and the forum will stay visually and functionally the same so don't worry about that), and then I'll re-install CMPS and shove all our old site content into there, and all will be great.

    Go to hell, duel.

      I second, Awesome.

Not to start in right away, but... What about all those lovely features and site-side things you were talking about? And support for RMXP? Will we have to wait for a stable version 4 upgrade, or will you look into pursuing other options?

I'm a fairly creative person. I'll figure something out. I had big plans for the new site (which are SECRET), and I'm not going to be able to let those go. Even though the upgrade ended up being over a week of absolute hell that I never want to go through again, it did manage to accomplish one thing, and that's getting me excited to work on the site again.

XP is supported (see workshop and submission forums), and will be supported more when the site is rebuilt. I already have header graphics chrono made for XP and VX for use in the navigation menu.

Whatever you decide to do, let me know if you need anything. And, don't forget about my offer. I'm excited about that possibility, and I would love to do the work.

EDIT: And now I have to go deal with the loss of my beautiful blog. Time to re-make it from scratch on my own server.

Where'd all of yesterdays posts go?

Or some of last week's for that matter.

                          Well, April is coming up.

Too bad for that moratorium, though; now no one gets to have any fun.

I've decided really early on to create a blog here. Dunno if it'll gain any more use than my "real" Wordpress blog, but we'll see.

Speaking of that blog, I was attempting to finish a "music video" tonight and post it, but the Pavilion was up sooner than anticipated. I have a 2 and a half minute song I made tonight, and within the next week plan to sync it to some video and put it on the site.

As for this blog, not sure what I want to do with it yet. I'll hopefully have a PeeCee built for me within a relatively short period of time, and I plan to purchase the full version of IG Maker. Most likely, I will have a separate page here for status updates once that happens. But for now, I'm just going to post more stupid idiotic ramblings.

Every so often when I'm walking around I attempt making eye contact with the people that walk by. As you can guess, most people either avoid looking at you or glance and quickly look away. I think everyone does this, but why? Whats so wrong with looking people in the eyes?

Is it out of respect, a triviality, or is it a deep seeded insecurity that the person can see into our souls and discern our every flaw? If it was just me I would blame my social anxiety, I avoid unnecessary interactions, use the self checkout whenever possible and never ask for help. Its clearly more than just me though. Are that many of us really bothered by contact from unfamiliar humans, like a stressful cat with a new-found neighbour?

Maybe the answer can be found in Evolutionary Psychology, if you believe that sort of thing.

I don't even know what I'm using this for. This is a web log. So I should be logging stuff. I don't know what though.

So my day at work was pretty dull, I only worked two hours, but my boss Misty asked me to close, and i was like, "Naw, I don't want to." Damn I'm a lazy bastard. I had to do most of the closing stuff that I normally do anyway, while I was there, so it's not like they were too screwed. I guess the guy who was supposed to be closing wasn't gonna show up. I dunno. They said he was going to just not show up, though he didn't call in or anything, they just assumed, since he's a real ****-off anyway, he prolly wasn't gonna show up.

I wonder why I say I dunno when i know things.

I hate how people ask me how I'm doing. I just say "Alright, how are you?" since I know they don't really care anyway. They usually give a similarly vauge response.

                            Oh well, this is boring.

My First RMXP Tileset Mod - Innerbody Expansion

                            on 01-04-2010 at 02:10 AM (22 Views)

This is the first mod I made to RMXP's default RTP tileset "Innerbody". This is one of the most seldom used tilesets - it's bland, boring, and has little variety. About three years ago, I decided to spice it up a little. Below is my attempt to add some life to Innerbody. Note: You can download all the files listed as a single RAR file at the bottom of this post!

                            The Tile Set

                            Link: http://edcx.us/rpgmakerxp/rtp_mods/I...nnerBody02.png

                            Feature Explanation #1:

The two "pouches" in the bottom-right of the tileset are designed for the placement of a character; like so -

The pouch with veins protruding from the top is meant to be placed just below a wall. The pouch above can be placed anywhere. The modified skeleton and corpse can also be place in these pouches using events.

                            Feature Explanation #2:

There are several eyes also in this tileset (taken from an enemy-battler). The eyes are best placed on the darkened walls - they rather stick out on the default pink walls. Also, using event(s) you can animate the eyes so they blink at random intervals. About 5 frames or less is best for the closed eyelids to be displayed.

                            Autotiles

Below is an example of one of my 4 modified autotiles. I recolored the yellow-liquid pool so it looks more like blood. The first three, with more red flesh, is meant to match the recolor of the tileset's default ground tile. The other autotile uses the default flesh color but has a red-pool of blood instead of yellow.

                            Animations

This is an animation (character set) of one of those big puss-bubbles.

This is an animation (character set) of a re-colored bubble-cluster (added veins). It is meant to be put in front of a narrow door as a blockage.

                            Commentary and the Future

This was the first tileset mod I ever did - and I haven't hardly done anything since then (which was around three years ago). I did most of my Innerbody mod pixel-by-pixel; and it took me quite a while. It's far from perfect, but it's a start.

What's next in store you ask? Well, I've learned a bit over the course of the past three years - and I'm going to apply the knowledge and skills I've gained to this endeavor.

Here's a little preview of much more expansive RTP mod I'm working on. It includes a modified tileset, autotiles, character set animations, icons, and even a battle background! It's called:

                            Corrupted Heaven

                            Questions? Comments?

If you have any comments, there is a comment button. And, if you have any questions, I suppose that some button could be used for that, too.

                            See you next time!

Oh well - there's some stuff there I forgot about, so it's all good.

There was a post I made, in the "Who's making a game thread". It was about a text-input device for the PS1 RPGM. Some people might want to read that, maybe.

                              Thanks.
