    Recommend a PSP game

Today I bought Class of Heroes, somthing to just play while riding on the bus, I didn't enjoy it however. Just not my flavor of game. I plan on returning it tomorrow but I still wanted somthing to play on the bus, as I want a break from Monster Hunter for a while.

I would ask to reccomend a DS game but for whatever reason after a half-hour of playing (I ride the bus for around 1 hour one-way) while sitting on the bus, playing my phat DS my arm starts hurting for being bent for so long. No idea why, I am guessing just because I have the screen so close to my face to make out the shapes due to poor lighting, thus my arm is bent tightly. PSP has a larger screen so it's easier on the eyes and I can have it closer to my lap.

    Anyhow.

I may as well say what I have already: MH:FU, Armored Core, Final Fantasy: Tactics, Crisis Core, Castlevaina: Bloodlines, along with a couple PSN fighter games Guilty Gear and King of Fighters 99'.

Class of Heroes is ****ing awful. Try Etrian Odyssey II for a much more accessible and polished version of first person dungeon spelunkin' if you have a DS.

Lumines is a great game about falling blocks.
Crush is a good puzzlin' game with unique mechanics that'll make you think.
Disgaea is great for neckbeard grindin' to 9999 90 times over.
I really love Star Ocean 2, for its customization aspects but by the time you're able to really utilize those game systems you'll have to have spend around 20 hours into the game.
Dissidia is like candy, perfect every once in a while but you'll get sick of it if you play it too much.
Mega Man Powered Up is great if you love Mega Man. And you should.
Also, look into some PSone classics. Like RE2.
There's also Chinatown Wars for the PSP and if you like the GTA formula.

      Half Minute Hero.
      Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman.
I've heard Fate/Unlimited Codes is a good fighting game for the PSP.
      flOw.
      Everyday Shooter.
      Patapon 2.
      Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe.

These are all downloadable PSP games. Get a $20 or $50 PSN card instead of a disc-based UMD.

As for disc-based games, I'd agree with Lumines. I was really excited for Class of Heroes when it first came out, but it was a major letdown compared to Etrian Odyssey and EO II on the DS. Also, the Persona remake, I guess.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth (though a PSone port) is simply amazing. I thought it was a very refreshing RPG, and I felt the urge to replay it after I beat it.

After rebuying it on PSP and trying to play it again, I've come to the conclusion I really don't like it. I hate choosing who to send and who to keep and early on I found myself just wasting the time given to me in the chapter because I didn't have anything to do and I hated that feeling.

Different strokes for different blokes, I guess. I liked the strategy involved in leveling up/choosing which character to send - the whole you need to send up good players but you need good players yourself thingy. I like the simple yet complex battle system, too, having the buttons correspond with the character you wish to attack, being able to push them in whatever order you wish or even all at the same time. Like I said, it was just so...refreshing.

The major complaint I do have about the game is that you need a strategy guide to get the best ending.

This and Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen almost completely paralyze me with the fear that I'll do something "wrong."

Half Minute Hero is pretty good. There's 4 (I think) different modes with a lot of content in each.

Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman I found frustrating, but probably because "maze" tower defense games are confusing to me.

              There's always PSN!

A majority of the time I play Hot Shots Golf Open Tee. But then I love the HSG games. I played the original to complete and utter death.

So what's the deal with that other PSP golf game...you know...the one that's really popular in Japan and has some weird name and was ported to the Wii as We Love Golf?

Well, "ported" is the wrong word, actually. There's a version on the Wii, I should have said.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is great and full of so many ideas that would later make other games great as well.

Class of Heroes is a totally different monster than Etrian Odyssey. It's the Might and Magic to Etrian Odyssey's Wizardry and I enjoyed both games. CoH requires more knowledge of in game stats and character design and there's a lot more randomness and hostility by nature of its design (out of level encounters, trapped floors, etc.). I can understand not liking it because the design approach with Might and Magic was "Take Wizardry, add more **** and make it a billion times harder."

Anyways, first question I ask in "Recommend me stuff" topics is "What do you like?" Right off the bat I'll probably say you should download Blood Omen but Kain's monologue provides majority of the story and since there's no subtitles it makes playing on a bus near impossible.

Trying to avoid PSN if I can, mainly because if I don't like the game I can return it.

Dissidia was an interesting demo, but I don't know if I would want to pay $40 for it.

This is always hard for me. As my tastes are way to spread out. "Dark Fantasy" seems a common theme but other than that nothing really.

Nobody suggested Star Ocean 1 and 2?

Arguably the best RPGs on the PSP. Star OCean 1 was never even released in North America until this port!

Be warned, SO 2 is MASSIVE. One of those epic RPGs that has a level of depth that simply doesn't exist anymore.

                            And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

                              Toaster reccomended 2.

I played the PS2 star ocean. Till the end of time? I didn't enjoy it. Is SO 1 or 2 any different?
