    RPG Tsukuru DS

Thanks to Gulshog for the heads-up on this.

Enterbrain has apparently announced RPG Tsukuru DS for release in Japan in January.

I have already contact Agetec about this, and will let everyone know if I hear anything back about this title. in the meantime, lets all use this topic to scream really loud for it.

Enterbrain formally announced a Nintendo DS installment in the long-running RPG Maker series this week. Called RPG Tsukuru DS, the title's due out January 28 in Japan for 5460 yen; no US release has been announced.

As with all the many other RPG Makers released in the past, RPG Tsukuru DS allows you to make your very own Japan-style RPG, defining everything from characters and world maps to monsters and equipment. The tools are all touch-pen compatible, making the creation process a lot faster than before, and you'll be able to use the Wi-Fi/wireless connection to exchange game data with your friends, although the exact details on that are still unknown.

You're free to create all your own graphics for your would-be megahit, but for the lazy, RPG Tsukuru DS comes with over 800 character-building parts, 1500 map parts, over 150 pieces of music, and everything else you need to get rolling immediately.

The RPG Maker series has been around in one form or another in Japan since 1992. The latest version, RPG Maker VX, was released worldwide by Enterbrain last year for Windows PCs. The last English-language console release was the PS2's RPG Maker 3 (2005).

    Update:

Chuck found a magazine scan that proves the title actually exists.

IT IS ALL AN ELABORATE SCHEME WITH THE SOLE INTENTION OF LEADING ON MEMBERS OF THE PAVILION AND THEN DASHING THEIR HOPES.

updated with the magazine scan Chuck found.

I'm dreading sharing games made with this, though. unless there's a server games are uploaded to, and can be downloaded from.

if that's not the case, I'm sure each cart can store several games. I'll probably end up buying multiple copies to store games on and help with long-term game distribution.

Okay, so it's real. Yay, on that. But I'm still waiting to hear how trading games online is supposed to work, or if it's even possible.

I'm also going to be very surprised if there's nothing like Animé Maker in this. I mean, draw your own sprites, literally! How could they pass that up?

              Oh, yeah. *slaps forehead*

I definately find the music choice impressive. 150 songs? I don't think even RMXP had that many. Gonna be plenty of battle themes to choose from. Though, I hope the battle theme selection is better than RMVX's. Seemed like only two or three of its battle themes actually seemed battley.

I wonder if this will work with DSi storage? I don't own a DSi but this is somthing that would make that SD card actually worth a damn.

I consider this further proof that if there is another console entry it'll be on Wii. RPG Tsukuru is always on the same systems Dragon Quest is, for obvious reasons. And DQ 10 was confirmed for Wii a while back.

                              Well,
                              1) There certainly are a lot of peeps with DS's here.
                              2) LBP with its "make your own game" concept sold well this generation (and got a lot of press), prompting the future release of ModNation Racers.
                              3) The stylus will make it easy to use (in theory), so it won't just appeal to the hardcore.
                              4) The DS seems to be the go-to device this generation for JRPGs, so I'm guessing the JRPG base this game appeals to already has the system. Also, I assume, but don't really know, that the JRPGs sell pretty well for the DS here...but I'm only thinking about the ports.

I think if a company looked at the actual statistics behind the above, they would find that bringing it over would be a worthwhile investment on their part. Maybe. I have no numbers to quote.
