Thanks to Gulshog for the heads-up on this.
Enterbrain has apparently announced RPG Tsukuru DS for release in Japan in January.
I have already contact Agetec about this, and will let everyone know if I hear anything back about this title. in the meantime, lets all use this topic to scream really loud for it.
Enterbrain formally announced a Nintendo DS installment in the long-running RPG Maker series this week. Called RPG Tsukuru DS, the title's due out January 28 in Japan for 5460 yen; no US release has been announced.
As with all the many other RPG Makers released in the past, RPG Tsukuru DS allows you to make your very own Japan-style RPG, defining everything from characters and world maps to monsters and equipment. The tools are all touch-pen compatible, making the creation process a lot faster than before, and you'll be able to use the Wi-Fi/wireless connection to exchange game data with your friends, although the exact details on that are still unknown.
You're free to create all your own graphics for your would-be megahit, but for the lazy, RPG Tsukuru DS comes with over 800 character-building parts, 1500 map parts, over 150 pieces of music, and everything else you need to get rolling immediately.
The RPG Maker series has been around in one form or another in Japan since 1992. The latest version, RPG Maker VX, was released worldwide by Enterbrain last year for Windows PCs. The last English-language console release was the PS2's RPG Maker 3 (2005).
