Get the flu shot?

I can get one for free from work. I've gotten it before and it worked fine. So waddya think?

And I'm not just asking about me really, but a general question on whether or not people should be getting flu shots. I know that's two seperate questions, but oh well.

I say no.

Even though I am getting my irrational fear of needles under control, I'm still not getting a flu shot. It protects from ONE strain... even though there are thousands of different strains out there.

And lot of people I know who get the shot end up sick within a week anyway. I mean, technically, they are shooting you up with the virus, they've just "dissarmed" it is all.

Normally I don't think it's worth the trouble, but last year right before my first semester finals at university I got the worst flu I ever had. Lasted nearly a month, the damn thing. I don't want to get anything like it again this year, especially with how risky next flu season's gonna be thanks to N1H1, so I'm considering it if only for peace of mind.

Prolly won't, though.

Last year I caught the flu and it had me out of commission for one whole week. Never felt worse in my life.

So yeah, I already got my flu shot.

The extreme side effects of a vaccine are rare. There's a reason why the doctor (at least, they're supposed to) asks you for any known allergens.

The flu is pretty overrated in its severity. Just like SARS with its 90-something percent recovery rate, H1N1 is only a threat in developing countries. I've noticed that statistics tracking death by country rarely bring the age of the deceased in question but I guarantee you a large number of people who die are younger than 3 or older than 60. You know, people who are already sick or have weak immune systems.

With that said, it's always good to be cautious. Even though the vaccine only protects against a single strain, it's one less potential threat to worry about. The likelihood of severe drawbacks are very very very very very very very very very very very very rare and best of all it's free!

There always seems to be flu shot shortages, and since the flu is most deadly to children and seniors, I always pass it up. Plus, you can get the flu from the flu shot.

I prefer the "if you see someone cough, run for the hills" method. I've been training all summer for that.

I think the relations between autism and shots have been dis proven, but I can't remember.

Even then it's only for newborn infants. Kire is a mans' man
