Re: Flower, Sun, and Rain critique
Hehe...I clicked Chuck's link in the other thread, and found this and read it a few hours before you posted it.
I've always been semi-interested in playing this, and this makes me a lot more interested. In fact, my buddy was taking me shopping today, and before I left, I called Game Crazy near where I was going to see if they had this. They didn't.Last edited by Perversion; 09-03-2009, 05:38 PM.

Re: Flower, Sun, and Rain critique
After reading the critique, I completely understand why his games are done in the manner in which they are, and I applaud that.
In fact, my most recent (on hold) RPGM3 project, which will now be made on IG Maker if it gets made at all, is kinda striving for a similar vibe. I was thinking of making the main character ("you") working an extremely repetitive job that really will not be fun in the slightest bit. I ran this by a few people, and they all told me that it was a bad idea, because anyone who played it would give up before understanding what I was trying to get across. Oh course, that repetitive job would only be one facet of the game, not the entire thing, but even so, reading the critique gives me hope that my idea might not be so bad after all if people take the time to get through and understand the message being conveyed.
That being said, I need to get this game, finish No More Heroes and start playing Killer 7.
EDIT @ Mora: If you read the critique, you'd see that "liking" the game is almost beside the point. It's even stated that on a pure gameplay level, the game is a 3 out of 10. Directly below that score, though, they give it an Editor's Choice. If you are waiting for someone to really "like" it, you may be waiting a while. I think a game can be appreciated (especially in this case, where the gameplay is apparently supposed to be tedious in order to draw attention to the rote role of tasking in games) but not "liked."
Sometimes, creative works that try to convey meaning beyond a base level are challenging, difficult, or sometimes even unlikeable.Last edited by Perversion; 09-03-2009, 09:10 PM.
