Yeah I heard about this on the Radio. Only in Bush's America, I tell you. The good news is the radio station rasied enough moneys to pay what the girl's owed and then some.

"I just hope the girls learned a lesson." This is the part that really gets me. Yeah, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that the world is a terrible place and trying to make it better only gets you in trouble.

But I can think of many incidents in which doing the de-alienated thing turned out for good.

Just a single example of one such incident:
One of my college professors had a friend who had a chihuahua-poodle mix for a pet. He and his whole family loved that dog like nothing else. One day the man woke up to get the newspaper and found that someone had shot the dog to death with a BB gun and was lying dead in the street. Although the man was politically conservative, instead of calling the police and letting them handle it in the way the authorities handle such things, he found out the neighborhood boy who committed the crime and he made lifelong friends with that boy.


Outrageous as the lawsuit is, I think at worst the lesson that can be drawn here is to be careful of who you're nice to. Some people can't take kindness.
