    Enterbrain's next "maker"

    http://tkool.jp/products/act/index.html

out 12/12/08, this new PC software is compatible with the 360's XNA platform. It isnt tied to just one genre, as you can see on the page.

no US release has been announced yet, but I'll keep everyone informed.

    I like that there's the ability to make a 2D shooter/platform game.

    My interest, it has.

The look is interesting. Hopefully it will be easy to use.

Are RPG Maker XP and/or VX about as hard to use as RPG Maker 2?

too bad. it's being released for the PC. you can only port finished games to the 360, not make them on it.

                  *Is interested*

The shooter caught my eye. I've always liked top-down shooters like Galaga or Star Soldier, and I've wanted to make one.

And... I like action RPGs more than turn-based ones. So I'll look forward to making one.

That's... actually a pretty damn good idea. PCs usually have a better interface for this kind of stuff, especially if you're talking 2D... and consoles (in my opinion at least) are far more fun to actually play a game on.

This has got me very, very interested.

Looks pretty nifty. Will you be able to compile the game into an executable that could be run on a PC, as well as distribute it over Xbox Live?

That is amazing. Using XNA to be able to port your made games to the xbox 360. It means that you can develop videogames for the new fall update and publish them to the world! Being compatible with xna yields a completely new audience to the maker series. No longer will just rpg maker users play the games but normal gamers as well. This is definitely a wise decision. Now if we could only get a pc version of console quality with 3d graphics and xna compatiblity then RPG Maker would finally become a god.
