    Oddest candy you've eaten

I've not made one of these topics for QUITE some time, so give me some slack here.

I went to this gourmet chocolatier today (Lindt), and was like a kid in a....well.....I guess I was literally an adult in a candy store, but you get the idea. They had DARK CHOCOLATE of all types there. I settled on a 99% Cacao bar (cannot wait to try it...it's gonna be sooooo bitter...most dark chocolate is only in the 60-70% range), a dark chocolate and pear bar with almonds, and, the reason this topic was created...a dark chocolate and chili bar, which was not spicy or hot, but was actually quite delectable.

So, any strange candies you've tried?

Some candy my brother got me from Japan... It was like the sweetest thing I've ever tasted.

Oh...I just tried the 99% bar...I'm undecided. On the package, they tell you to most enjoy it, to work your way up from the 60-70% range to the 99% over a few pieces, and to let it melt in your mouth. I'll have to try something similar to that next time, because, while it wasn't BAD, it was not what I expected. Well, it kinda was, actually, but I really did not know what to expect. Sugar was the last of the four ingredients on the label, and for all intents and purposes, they wouldn't even have had to add sugar, and it probably would have tasted no different. It was thick (not size-wise, but texture/taste-wise) and not bitter so much as....I dunno. It was just odd to taste how almost pure chocolate with almost no sugar added actually tastes. Once again, not bad, but definitely an acquired taste. And coming from me saying it's an acquired taste means everyone else should probably not eat this, as most things that are an acquired taste to the majority of people I usually quite enjoy.

Supergodhero Bob, you were not around when I used to make one of these type of topics every few weeks or so. They went over okay for a while, until people began making parody threads of them. I even ripped myself to shreds for these topics in a post a while back. So, yeah. I stopped making them for quite some time. But I figured one

                -ish

topic every now and again wouldn't hurt.

I thought they were called Smarties in your strange Canadian parlance. Or were those Canadian M&M's?

                          No no, completely different candy.

                          We have Smarties

                          We have M&M's

and now we have Chocolate Skittles. I can't fathom how a pellet of straight sugar can taste like chocolate.

Chocolate should be smooth, not grainy

                            ...I'm strangely intrigued.

Those chocolate Skittles intrigue me in the same way that jalapeņo and hot buttered popcorn Jelly Bellies intrigue me. Things that should not taste good, but actually do.
