Jury Duty (Success! Read #18)

Yeah, so I forgot to mention I have Jury Duty tomorrow. I'm trying to get out of it, because I'm the only one in my department at work that can carry out the day to day tasks, my wages support three people ($12.50 for jury duty isn't even enough to buy diapers!), my wife has a dental appointment tomorrow, and I flat out hate it.

I thought this was a free country, why do they take peoples civil liberties away and force them to serve in a court they could care nothing about? Just down the street is a college with a Criminal Justice program, they could just call any of those students, I'm sure they'd love to do it!

Wish me luck guys, I'm gonna try to yell at them tomorrow and get myself out of this.

I'm not racist or anything but I thought about doing something like that.

Actually, I thought about telling them:

"I have seven personalities, and six of them don't want to serve on jury duty. The odds are against you."

To be completely honest though, on my questionaire I put that I am biased, but they've not let me off the hook yet even after that.

Maybe they thought you were lying? Besides, don't the lawyers get to say which jurors they don't like anyway? Thats another chance to get out of it :shrug

your best bet is to get selected from the jury pool, and then do everything in your power to get yourself thrown off the jury. one good thing to do would be constantly coughing. it's a common nervous habit, and no lawyer is going to want a juror coughing through the entire trial.

True. (I've been through this before). I just have to make them not like me. What sucks is that I'm a likable person in real life and that's hard. Not only that, but when I'm not telling the truth, I always laugh. I have no idea why that is.

Me, I'd love to do jury duty... probably because I don't know what else I'd do. Most jobs are too demanding for me.

Wow, I didn't know that. My sinuses have been legitimately acting up lately.

I have no idea what the case is. I'd enjoy it if I didn't have a job, a family, or anything else to do.

Actually, it's quite possible that you could just say you can't do it because your family will suffer.

Oh, and they can't take college students away from classes. Just sayin'.

I agree, our civic duties as fathers is to nurture our children so they can grow up and pay thousands of dollars in taxes.
