    Where's the romance?

I beat Resistance: Fall of Man earlier today. It was pretty "meh" up until the end, where things started to finally get good. The unique weapons started to prove themselves as very useful for different situations and the atmosphere finally came into itself. But there was nothing "wow" about the whole experience. Just felt like a decent game.

Last RPG I tried to get into? Wild Arms 5. A flaming pile of suck, that one. I give up on the series once and for all.

Assassin's Creed. I just CAN'T get. into. it. I want to but. I. just. don't. really. care. that. much. I knew that I should've rented Uncharted instead.

I didn't even get into BioShock that much a few months back, even though I did end up really liking it in the end. But there was nothing that really made me think to myself "Wow this game is easily a 10". It had a fantastic atmosphere but the FPS elements felt kind of like "shoot shoot and use a plasmid every once in a while". Nothing revolutionary really.

The last game that really "wowed" me was Resident Evil 4. Hell, I had more fun beating Phoenix Wright last week than I have had recently with all these big-budget titles.

    ...

I'll just go play Super Mario Galaxy and ignore everything else.

I think everybody got into Resident Evil 4! I'm not that big into shooters because they just remind me of Golden Eye 64. I really enjoyed Assassins Creed though. Uncharted is pretty good if you ask me. It was just a different kind of gaming experiance. Not to mentioned the main character was normal. Plus the game actually had some funny parts.

Well I hope you can find a new game you can enjoy soon. If not you can work on an RPGmaker.

I was looking forward to The Orange Box but I hear that the PS3 version is botched so I'm going to avoid it, unfortunately. I don't want to suffer through another "Odin Sphere" complex.

You're just getting older. I hit the phase right around when the Dreamcast came out and games just looked "meh" to me. BioShock is my favorite game of the decade but I wasn't that impressed when I first played it. Your generation is over. Either start playing games casually or just learn to deal with the fact that you've practically seen everything developers can toss at you. Hell, even Crysis was pretty generic after getting passed the sheer stunning BEAUTY of the graphics.

The last game to actually fill me with a sense of awe and wonder was Mario 64 which I played almost nonstop. Nowadays I just collect random games, catch up on games I haven't beaten yet, and play Civilization IV all day.

The last game that made me go "wow" was NHL 08 for the 360, because I had never seen a hockey game so realistically and well-presented like that before. Being a big hockey fan, I was quite giddy.

              Galaxy wowed me

              Assassins Creed wowed me
              Mass Effect wowed me

              Tons of games wow me.

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that we really don't have the time to just sit down and play for the length of time we did when we were little.

Video games have become more of a stress reliever and time consumer than an experience to me. I have so many things going on in my life, that I can't enjoy a single game fully. And it doesn't help when I have 4 or 6 new games and want to play them all.

It is too easy to become distracted from the one game, and go on to the others.

I liked it better when I was only able to afford one game every 2 to 3 months.

                    Yeah.

The back of Persona 3 says that it has 70+ hours of gameplay.

Years ago, that would have been a positive feature, not a negative one.

Remember the days when a 2 or 3 hour beat 'em up was just fine? Those were the days.

I must be the odd one out, because I didn't like RE4 that much...

I love RE4, but it didn't really blow my mind or revolutionize the action game for me or anything.

I didn't play many new games this year. I had fun with Guitar Hero and Halo 3, but most of my gaming of 2007 was Starcraft.

Assassin's Creed crashed on me 4 times before I decided to take it back to Blockbuster and exchange it for another game. I got Uncharted, and now I'm about to buy it.

                              I love this game.

Indiana Jones + Tomb Raider + Prince of Persia + Gears of War = Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

The writing is refreshing, the cutscenes are well done, and everything about this game just seems to have been made with love. I know that sounds gay but I don't know how else to describe it. This game makes owning a PS3 all the more worthwhile.
