    Gaming resolutions for 2008?

This topic is more-so about MY decision for 2008, but I'd like to hear if anyone else has any similar plans as well as suggestions for mine.

I've had a backlog of games as long as I can remember, and I decided for this year I'm going to vow to beat at least one game a week. I don't care if I start at the beginning, or pick it up 25-40% into it like some of my game saves are. My goal is 50 games finished (last boss down) before the end of the year, giving me two breather weeks. If I count THIS week as Week #1, that puts the final week of the year being Week #53. I don't want my final week to only be half of a week because I want it all to be finished BEFORE 2009, so this is how I'm doing it with Week #53 just being a "woo!"

I've picked out Jan-Feb, but since that was only 9 games, I also picked the first one in March to make it an even ten.

    Dec. 30th
    Super Paper Mario (Wii)
    Jan. 6th
    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Wii)
    Jan. 13th
    Mario Strikers Charged (Wii)
    Jan. 20th
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
    Jan. 27th
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure (Wii)
    Feb. 3rd
    Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)
    Feb. 10th
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (DS)
    Feb. 17th
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations (DS)
    Feb. 24th
    Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (DS)
    Mar. 2nd
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2)

Mario Strikers is just there so I can say I beat all my Wii games and to also have buffer between Metroid Prime 3 and Twilight Princess (at damn near beginning of each of those). I don't think I'll actually finish each game in a week, but if I stick close enough to the schedule and lay it out right, I can maybe get far enough ahead on some of the smaller titles or ones I'm farther in to make time for the bigger games. Like with this layout, I have 3 weeks to do Metroid Prime and Zelda, cause Mario Strikers won't take but maybe a day or two. That way, when it's all said and done I can still have them all done by Jan '09. Also, I'm done with 3/5 cases on the first Phoenix Wright and over half of Super Paper Mario. That way, when it's all said and done I can still have them all done by Jan '09.

And yeah, the only reason MGS2 isn't finished is cause of a power outage I had during play. Anytime I lose a couple hours worth of work (didn't save for a while) I get so ****** off that I don't touch it again for a LONG time.

Part of my choice to put the Phoenix Wright games all beside each other is cause Apollo comes out the week I'm beating the third one, and I think if I pull this off maybe I'll get a shirt or something from CafePress that says something like "What I did in 2008" with a list of the games in the order of the weeks I beat them. Only not in the format here, I'd want them listed in columns rather than how I showed you my ten.

Anyone else have any gaming intentions? Or have any suggestions for this?
    Keep the change.

Damn....by going your route, I would exert almost as much effort figuring out a shedule and all the eventualities as I would actually playing the damn games.

I'd LIKE to make a similar resolution, but it would be the same as me making one to quit smoking...it'll never happen.

If I can get 3-4 mag reviews done, 1 RPGM full game and one demo released, and beat 2 storebought games this year, I'll be happy. Hell, I'd be happy to beat one. The last time I beat a game was about 5 years ago, when I beat Skies of Arcadia. Before that, I think the last game I beat was Ogre Battle 64 upon release. And before that, it honestly probably was FFI, NES Metroid, and all three NES Mario games. I'm not counting games like Civilization or Sim City for the SNES, and Starcraft for the N64, Mario Party, Wario Ware, etc, as those are more scenarios/minigames.

Yeah, I've not beaten too many games in my life.

I've already gone through my game collection, and I've got about 58 that I haven't beaten yet, including the 10 listed here. All I really gotta do is see the game name and I immediately know roughly how far I am into it. For me, it's just a matter of putting the big stuff every other, with the little stuff or almost completed stuff in between. It sounds really hard, it's not. I mean, if YOU were to pick MY games with no knowledge of my progress then yeah it'd be hard, but aside from that it's not too difficult. Scheduling is very easy, and I picked those 10 and typed my list of the total games (58) and it took less than 15 minutes.

Well... I don't really know how to consider that "beaten." The single player probably won't take too terribly long.

I'll probably include it along with my list of games that don't fall within the 52 week plan. Just to add to the sheer number of completed games.

            You're crazy Smurvis.

Maybe you should devote all that hardcore gaming time to, you know, something more productive. But if you're willing to do it go for it man. More power to ya.

Myself: I will devote all my gaming time of 2008 to revisiting the old classics. Even the ones that aren't necessairly classics. I'm particullarly excited to play through FF8 again, I'd like to see how it stands today. Most of my memory of the original play through is a blur. With a lot of card games in between.

Edit: Let's not turn this into another "I hate FF8" topic.

this is all nice and every thing but it may detract from enjoying the games. i just play them when i feel like it and dont when im not into playing a particular game. having a stressing schedule is not so hot either, especially when you have to stick to it for an entire year.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
Card Three is released! You can find it here!

                I'm gonna beat Persona 3.

And then I'm gonna beat Okami.

And then I'm gonna beat Final Fantasy XII.

I'll beat Phantom Hourglass somewhere in there.

I thought similar things. Possibly hating the game I'm playing through, or doing something better. But, I don't do much productive in my time anyway. School, work, eat, sleep, see friends, play with cat, and play games. And I play games with my friends, and work at GameStop. So games a big part.

And I figure... hell, I bought all the games with the intention to beat them. Even if it feels a little forced for a particular game one week, it's got to iron itself out by the second day.

And Kefka, same here minus Persona. They're in the batch too.

                    Persona 3...

I'm very indifferent towards that game. I love playing it in short spurts, but that's about it. Otherwise the repeative nature and it's music (although it IS refresing) start to annoy the hell out of me.

I think I'll probably end up beating that one in 2009.

I have to buy a lot of PS3 triple A titles and I need to beat R/C Future for god's sake.

I can just buy it and finish it during Spring break, like I did with Mass Effect (except I did that for half of winter break).
