I Decided To Get A Black Nintendo Lunch Box

    AKA a black Gamecube.

I never really cared much for Gamecube or most of its games, however for $30 I decided it would be worth it enough to check out Metroid Prime.

So far I'm not thrilled about the first person perspective of Prime, however it's fun. So far not as fun as any of the other Metroid games, but I'm a Metroid fan so I need to beat it.

How's Metroid Prime 2? Is Mario Sunshine any good? And why is that damned Zelda collectors disk so expensive?!

I love my GCN I have plenty of games on it, Might want to check out some Dreamcast games if you don't have a DC (PSO, Skies of Arcadia, etc.) Baiten Kratos (sp?) and Tales of Symphonia are really the only non-sega RPGs I have.

Other than the obvious (SSBM, Zelduh, etc.) that's all I can think of right now. Would have to look in my collection.

Damn, Game Cubes are only 30 bucks now?

Get a hoard of them and wait for their values to go up in the next ten years.

Back on topic, get Super Smash Bros. Melee and Mario Kart: Double Dash. Those are must-own titles.

Also: The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker.

Yes you must get Windwaker. That is probably my favorite Zelda game.
                  Animal Crossing
                  Pikmin
                  Pikmin 2
                  Paper Mario 2
                  Resident Evil 0 (best one)
                  Resident Evil 1 remake
                  Resident Evil 4
Harvest Moon (if it is your thing)
                  Luigi's Mansion (**** it)
                  and of course Melee

Nintendo mass produces their machines to the point of being worthless. I'm pretty sure the top loader NES was still in production when the N64 was announced.

The last games I remember playing on my GCN were Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, and Alien Hominid but all of those games are multiplatform now. If you want some old school action, get Legend of Zelda: Four Swords (unlike the GBA version, this one can be played solo). If you haven't bought Ikaruga, regardless if you like SHMUPS or not, you're wrong. Skies of Arcadia was one of SEGA's better RPGs. I also enjoyed Crystal Chronicles single player... it was kind of like a light-hearted Diablo. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is a great remake (despite the cheap the matrix style cinemas). I can't recommend Eternal Darkness enough.

I also really enjoyed Luigi's Mansion. Don't really know why because it wasn't that long of a game but I have an instant love for any product that features big mansions.

Please be specific. For someone that thought Mario 64 was an abomination, would I like Mario Sunshine, or is it basically Mario 64 part 2?

lol, I don't see much love for Mario Sunshine. Does it really suck that badly?

I've heard alot of good things about RE4. As of right now, RE3 is my favorite. I will probably try RE4.

I actually do still have a Dreamcast. Can you actually still play Phantasy Star Online? I'm afraid to try something like that because you never know when the developers may pull the plug on the servers, I don't want to get attached.

I had Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast, I couldn't stand it. No offense to anyone but that game put me to sleep.

I do want to try Zelda Twilight Princess, but I don't know if I can get over the fact that Link is a werewolf. Can someone please explain that so I understand better what's going on? Zelda TP is expensive right now so I have to make sure that it's good.

Mario Kart Double Dash looks promising. I think that game is still going for like $30. (I have a baby so I have a budget, I can't afford much).

I tried Wind Waker, and I don't really much care for it.

I REALLY want that Zelda Collectors disc though, but damn it's almost $50!

But yeah, used Gamecubes at Gamestop set you back $29.99. I believe they were $39.99 last month. It will take years, but yeah all of Nintendo's products are worth money eventually. (Albeit, not a zillion dollars or anything).

What's Pikmin about? I used to know, but since I didn't follow Gamecube I forgot what that was about. I think my wife will like Harvest Moon, so I probably should get that for her. I've heard bad things about Luigi's mansion.

Is Mario Party any good? Seriously, I would love a game that my wife and I could play together, maybe that's a good choice? I never played it.

I agree that Nintendo mass produces their consoles, but believe it or not their systems usually don't stand the test of time (NES is prone to a hundred tries to get one game working, SNES had a fragile power connector) and on eBay some Nintendo consoles (depending on the quality) can fetch you quite a bit. ESPECIALLY if the box is still sealed. Some Nintendo cartridges by themselves are worth more than the console now. SNES is actually back in style, shocking isn't it?

Speaking of SNES, I need to get myself one. My original one doesn't work right anymore.

Except that Nintendo Wii is the first backwards compatible nintendo system and there is absolutely no reason for both a Gamecube and a Wii to exist together on the same shelf. Wait for their values to continue to plummet in the next ten years just like the original Playstation.

If Top-Loading NES machines were so readily available, why had the value of the system on eBay always remained so high? Your statement makes no sense.

How good is the backwards compatibility of the Wii? Do you need to have updates to play games like the Xbox, or does every game work?

I think he meant the core systems. Special edition systems are always going to be rare but the first editions are always mass produced.

it's pretty much perfect. The Wii was built on GC architecture, so it just adjusts the processors into "gamecube mode" and that's it. It's not compatible with online games (both PSO games for it dont even have servers anymore), and it can't use the gameboy player, but everything else ever released for the system works just fine.

Unless you have a gameboy player.
