Good god....
Anime sure has turned into Generic crap over the years this first episode proves it.
Flying suits, bloody generic Character designs that look like every other modern anime out there, where is Haruhiko Mikimoto? sleeping? why dosen't someone call him out of retirement??
Also there was a bishounen scene....there was freaking bishounen scene in Macross....
The only thing that seemed like it was any good was scenes that were taken from the original show and movie and incorporated into this show.
I don't know who the enemy in this is and I don't want to know.
You know it was Christmas day and I found out they released the first episode and I was stoked as I hadn't seen or read anything on this...
I liked the name! I liked the idea it took place after and maybe resulting from the Megaroad then I watch this freaking abortion..
What the hell has happened to Anime over the years??...it used to be innovative.. now it just recycles itself and insults itself.
It used to be that cool thing from Japan to watch and now I want it to stay in Japan.
Had to rant it ****ing ****** me off tonight.

Once anime went digital, we got even more series featuring endless talking heads and drab colors/backgrounds. I miss wacky artist styles in anime.

So... is this worse than Macross 7?

I mean, really, who would've thought that there could be a Macross TV series that is laughable and does no justice to the memory of the original series?

Kawamori hasn't done anything worthwhile since Earth Girl Arjuna. Genesis of Aquarion was a mess, despite its popularity.

Once anime went digital, we got even more series featuring endless talking heads and drab colors/backgrounds.

I can't stand watching anime with 100+ episodes anymore. Professional studios seem to keep taking shortcuts with their shows now just to pump out shows every week.

The only anime I can enjoy are either shows with a short number of episodes, or feature length stuff because some effort usually goes into those.

Well, yeah, 100+ episodes is usually a bad sign. Anything higher than maybe 60 is asking for trouble.

Is it worse than Macross 7? it feels even lamer if that is possible..

I mean they have such a rich history to build upon,why not gives fans what they really want which is to follow Adimiral Lisa Hayes the Megaroad and Hikaru and his VF-4.
Nixon is right we seemed to hit a time right when computer animation and digital ink and paint took over when things went to hell.
I also agree 100+ episode shows are such a time sink..remember when an Anime show was 24 to maybe possibly 36 episodes, I know there was exceptions to that rule but most Anime these days is like 5 boxsets.
Can someone renew my faith is there any good shows out these days that I am just seeming to miss?

hard to tell what I should be watching. I don't get the anime network, so when I go to a store I mainly look for cheap box sets that have every episode in one box only, or feature length films, but the shelves are always covered by a million episodes of nonsense crap i'll never watch. There might be some series I find an interest in watching, but there's only a volume or two out at a time, and I hate to be left hanging all because the next volume wont be released for several months. That, and the inconvenience of going back to the store all the time looking for the next volume. I'd rather buy one thing, and be happy about it.
