View Full Version : Unofficial Demo
If you guys dont mind not having a beginning storyteller explaining the story and just want to go experiment with gameplay Ill throw the demo up, it has the Book of Life mission, and the Golden Urn mission done, it also has the Dark Dragon event in the volcano(similar to ultimate weapon)
I know Lausen said he wants it by monday, and Ive gotten quite a bit done since Ive been off, only thing I dont majorly have yet is a storyline.
Anyways the tower is finished, the familiars eggs are placed in the tower, you can play and get familiar with the game. Basically the game is done with exception to storytellers, adding missions and possibly a second tower for a random floor generator.

Again I really like the idea. I didn't know what Azure Dreams was until this. I did some research and now I can't wait to try this.:D But then again it's your decision. If you think it's ready to be a demo post it and if not wait a week or so until it's how you like it. The longer you have to wait for something the better it is.
Yeah but I have to go back to work tomorrow(end of my 8 day vacation:() and I dont know how often Ill be able to work on it.
Next time Ill be able to work on it will be wed-thurs, if I dont have other things to do.
Basically I just want suggestions on gameplay, not storyline, so I can fix all elements of gameplay before I continue with the quests/storyline because some of the quests intertwine with the gameplay

Well I'd be more then happy to play through it. I have wed-fri off next week too. So I can give you any suggestions you need.

All I saw from the Pavilion index was, "Release the..." and my immediate thought was, "Release the Hounds".
But really, I don't think you should release the demo if you're not ready.
The gameplay is ready, but not the storyline, and like I said, I need the feedback before I do more with the storyline so I wont have to go back and change a lot of stuff.
And yes, theres RE's, there has to be in this game, so if you dont like dredging around to get your characters levels up to advance through the game then sorry:lol
I don't mind if you wait. It'll take me time to get a copy of RPGM3 anyways. :D
Why dont you buy one off ebay or amazon? Theyre usually a lot cheaper then stores
I went ahead and released the unofficial version, once I get the storyline in place and some feedback Ill officially release it
There may be some bugs, so, eh...:lol
Best to get the $ from the chest in your house and head on over to the item shop for some herbs, youre probably gonna need them the first time through.

Well you were smart and put other peoples ideas in it so they have a personal reason for playing.:lol I'm sure it will be fun. At least I know your battles will be balanced.:)
Some of the ideas are in there, I have to figure out how to put the other ones in there

Sounds great!
I've got a load of exams from now until the 14th, then a ski vacation 'til the 23rd. When I get back from that, I'll download whatever the most current version of your game/demo is and give it a whirl--I can't wait!
Why not make it an official demo? Or did you want to incorporate/fix a few more things before doing that?
Why dont you buy one off ebay or amazon? Theyre usually a lot cheaper then stores
True enough, but having my friend send me his copy for free is EVEN cheaper. I'll tell you what I think when I get mail.
Theres quite a few things that needs to be fixed, Lausen is playing it and has given me quite a list:lol
If you want to play a better demo wait till next week when the official demo comes out
Regarding your question Wavelength, this is my first attempt at a in-depth game with a storyline, every other game was just a fun-game, and as lausen has pointed out numerous times in the last few PMs, this thing is no where near offical demo material yet:lol

But it has serious potential!!! A few tweeks here and there and it will be ready to become an official demo.
I didnt think anyone would think it was fun...
You really need to get Azure Dreams Lausen:lol

I've beaten Azure Dreams for the PS1 4 times, and I've beaten the GBC version once (but then it's 3 times as long). I'm definitely interested in playing the demo, if you want to send it, but first I have to finish 2 demos that I promised to play a long time ago (sorry Hito and Lausen). I've been in manic mode to finish Tree of Life before X-mas, and it's taken over my life like it always does.
I've been thinking...do you have invisible events between floors to change the dungeon properties like 'type' and 'lighting' and 'music'? Azure dreams changed floor types every 4 floors, I think, and it helped keep things interesting.

I was actually going to mention changing up the interior of the dungeons. And don't worry about it Obright.:) I know how it is.
I forgot you could do that for dungeons:) Ill definitely be doing that:)
I put the season and weather change events in, you can check those out in my notes topic

Yeah! I saw that, and it looked really cool. You know...if this is meant to be 'Azure Dreams for PS3', then you really don't even have to worry about the story that much. I mean AD is a great game and all, but come on...STORY? HA!
- Koh (which is 'cow' in Dutch), has just turned 14, and can now go into the tower. His dad disappeared in there, so maybe he can find something out if he conquers the tower.
He encounters a bad guy who says 'Yes, I killed your father!' Kill him. The end.
All of the other things...the medal to open the pool, the relationships, etc. are all side quests. You could very easily do similar things with RM3, like have 1 scripted battle on a certain floor that had a familiar monster of a different color, but this one drops the pool medal (or whatever) if you find it and defeat it. You could even have a working pool!
I'm serious...just use the rectangular fountain decorative town display, place fences around it except for one gate to get out from (but not back in), and an NPC somewhere that warps you into the 'pool' after you've fulfilled the requirement to open it. When you warp there you'll be up to your waist in water, and you can run around. As soon as you step out of the pool though, you can't go back in. That's what the fences are for. ;)
Anyway, good luck on it, and send me a copy of the demo whenever you want!
