Since Half-Moon is going to be a dungeon crawler, there's going to be quite a few battles in there.

Random battles would be easier to do, but I'm rather limited in options with those. And they tend to get annoying if not done right (though I think Obright did a good job in Shadow of the Towers).

Event battles have a lot more comtomizability to them, such as adding variables and other coding fun after the event, having character battles, and changing the monster party after a certain point in the game, or even turning them off entirely. The one downside I can think of would be not being able to run, but I could get around that by putting a choice option before the fight like, "You see two Zombies in front of you. Flee from them?" with occasional consequences for running from some battles.

The reason I'm asking rather then just choosing is partly because I want advice, and partly because I want to know what fellow Gamers think.

EDIT: By the way, bosses don't count in the above poll.

I said equal because its a dungeon crawler. If you make an item that allows you to lower the amount of battle then RE would be fine, but if you are going to be going back and forth in the same areas then it should be events because you'll end up growing levels and the RE there will be simple to kill. With events you can change the enemies like you said. I'm interested in your game either way.

The player will definitely be going through the same areas, since you have to go through "hallway" areas to get to the "dungeon" areas. Fields, I think, I won't really have random battles in.

I'm interested in your game either way.

Really? Thanks.
