Mass Effect: Way to walk into my headshot, Ashley

K-Mart broke the street date. Ran down this morning, and sure enough the copies were out and the clueless electronics clerk rang it up.


The kicker to the story? On the top of the case was the classic bright orange tag saying "DO NOT SELL BEFORE 11/20/07."

There is a K-Mart five minutes from my house, but I think I'll actually hold out until Christmas to get it. There are too many games coming out this month, and I have too little money to get all of them.

I decided that I could use a new pack of socks anyways, so I checked out K-Mart. They didn't have Mass Effect.

It's probably better that way.

That was gonna be my first 360 game since Crackdown. But i refuse to go into Kmart for any reason, so i'll just wait, got it preordered at EB.

The character creation is ridiculous. Literally took me 20 minutes to craft my guy. The only real limitation is that you don't have many hairstyles to pick from.

The action of the gameplay is interesting. I've only done the first action section, and so far I can say that the targeting is REALLY forgiving. Like, if you're aiming in the same zip code as the enemy, it'll generally count as a hit. However, I'm still getting used to the controls. I'm not used to thinking of using cover and "storming" enemies.

I'm liking the music so far and the VA is some of the best I've heard. Seth Green does a pretty kickass job as Joker, the pilot of what I think is the Normandy.

I did however get some Renegade points for a conversation that seemed innocent, so I'm wondering about that.

If you're going to go, better go now. I'm sure Microsoft and EA have begun yelling at K-Mart about the broken street date, seeing as the news has been out since yesterday night.

New news: the encryption minigame is annoying. You only get one chance before you have to start using omnigels, which I'm still not sure are, although you can break down any crate item into it.

Also: grenades can **** you up. Literally. Also doesn't help that if you're hurt and you have a Medigel, when you whip out your gun Shepard will automatically use it, even if it's your last one.

This game doesn't look very cool to me... maybe that is just because there are FAR TOO MANY GAMES TO BUY!

And I do not have the money for them all...
