40 creatures?

Do you mean actually created or just did their levels and attacks and stuff...

Are those creatures all exclusive to the tower?
Because that ia a big chunk of the creature limit!

Interesting.

By the way, why did you change the titles of most of the threads in here to periods?

Outdated stuff that clutters up the forum

40 creatures exclusive to the tower, if youve played azure dreams youd know that in the whole game theres only 1 town and 1 dungeon, AD's dungeon is 40 levels where mine will only be 20, but its harder to progress to the next floor, the player also returns to level 1 when they leave the dungeon, but the familiars kep their level. In addition to my 1 town and 1 dungeon, you will also have a world to explore, various side quests, town improvements, buying businesses, such as casinos and other things you'll earn "profit" from.

Lets say you purchase an Inn in one town for lets say...10,000G, after a few trips into the tower you come back to the Inn and speak with the guy who runs it, he'll give you the profit you've earned from the Inn since the last time you visited, same with the weapon shops, armor shops, casinos, stat shops, etc...

Theres 9 familiars at your disposal, one will be found every few floors and the higher up you find them the more unique abilities they have.

Im planning on having all 16 skill slots filled for the character and all 9 familiars, so there will be plenty of variety in this game.

Also each of the 40 monsters will each possess a rare item, which is "Almost Never" dropped, these items will do unique things to your stats that'll help you along your way.

Yeah things wasnt really written in any specific order here so...yeah...

I'll have to get this or Azure Dreams, if only to see how a succesful dungeon crawler plays - cause that's basically what my pet project is.

Man, if you make this anywhere close to or approach Azure Dreams I might have to borrow my friend's copy of RPGM3. That game is so neat.

Wow ... Ya if you want to make it a decent length game than it will have to be jammed with extra cool stuff

Oh and on a side note who made Azure Dreams?

I might have asked this once before, JPS, so sorry about that, but is your "Tower" going to have "Random" designs (i.e. lots of different layouts you've made that could be used for each floor), or is it going to look the same every time through?

How would I go about creating different designs each time through?

Right now they take up the entire floor layout, with crevices and secret rooms to explore all over the place, and after I get done with all the missions there will be treasure chests and items in all of the crevices and secret places:)

By the way...a quick update:

I have the Book of Life mission installed, after completing that mission you will have access to a different town.

Im currently working on the Witches Cauldron

I currently have 76 items

Ive implimented a series of days and seasons that changes over time, Ive also implimented different weather patterns that occur randomly as you progress through the game, and depending on conditions you could have special missions and new places to visit that pops up.

I created various monsters that can only attack from certain terrain tiles in the field(and thus can be avoided if you want), depending on the enemy within that terrain you may recieve a special item to use in the witches cauldron and other places.

By making four or five instances of the tower, each with completely different layouts, and each time you go up a level, you get warped to the correct floor in one of the five towers, selected at random. If you don't care about the game telling you "3F" versus "14F," you can even warp to floors at random as long as they have an appropriate level of monster difficulty based on the "level" of the Dark Tower you've made it to.

That would work, but it would eat up a crazy amount of memory.

But it would also work because I have my game tracking days, so depending on the day I could put a variable condition that will warp you to X tower on a certain day, that way it would be completely random.

hmm...I like that idea, Ill have to create a copy to make sure how much memory it does eat up.

Question, when you copy a tower, does all monsters parties assigned to that tower copy over with it? If not thats gonna be a lot of re-assigning:(

Glad you like the idea. I figured it would be a good thing to have if you want the feel of Azure Dreams. I can't answer your question though (although my instinct tells me they DO transfer); my game only uses event battles so I haven't assigned (per se) a single monster to a dungeon. Hopefully someone else can let you know whether the assigned parties stay?

I like anything that adds variations to gameplay, thats what keeps a game interesting:)

Progress Report!

22.2% Usage Rate

1 Field
4 Towns
1 Dungeon
10 Classes
4 People
9 Familiars
41 Monsters
41 Monster Parties
14 Recovery Items
2 Special Items
19 Swords
20 Armors
13 Treasures
36 Events
50+ Decorative Events

Ive implimented the familiar system, you'll find eggs on various floors that will give you access to one of 9 familiars, naturally, the higher up you find an egg the more powerful the familar will be.

Some of the quest ideas wont be implimented with the release of the demo, since I have to do the lower-level missions first.

Demo will 100% be out by December 1st, as early as tomorrow night depending on how much I can get done. (I'm serious now that I have a Max Drive)

Sounds great, buddy... and I'm looking forward to playing the demo, probably later in December after my cluster**** of exams and projects due.

You've still got a lot of scripting ahead of you, though... :)

I hope you can get it done before monday. I can't wait to see how all of these ideas come together.:)
