    The Spoiler Topic

    (Sticky, please?)

This was a popular idea over at the Mag, and I decided to bring it over here since I revived it there. For those who haven't figured it out already (why else would you be reading in here), I intend to spill everything. All of my ideas, plans, etc. for my games are going to be put in here, and I will not hold back (aside from super-specificness; I'm not going to write my scripts word for word or tell you the coordinates of Tree #364.1). So, one last warning:

IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE BIGGEST SECRETS OF MY GAMES BEFORE THEY ARE RELEASED, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHUR!!!

Oh, and, please don't steal my ideas. I have to think very hard for them.

Starting off, I've got a few things at the Mag already, but I'm just gonna start with what I just posted today. Just a few gameplay ideas for [game which shall not be mentioned by name], although there are a couple spoilers in here.

    *** SPOILERS ***
I've mentioned this before, but I got rid of the special battle transitions that happen at every battle. The ones that have the screen warp to a battle screen isntead of simply fade out a little like RPGM1 normally does. But I'm keeping the effect for boss battles, which leaves the problem of how the screen has to fade out, fade in, and then warp back to the main map after battle. So I'm thinking about possibly making this extra screen between fades have a stat-boosting feature. Allow the player to boost Speed, Evasion, or Immunity (to bad status) after every boss. Not sure how well this will work, or how much memory it might take.

I'm also fiddling around with some special character-specific abilities in the game. I already had a few ideas, such as one character who absorbs MP in order to use skills depending on how much MP is absorbed. But a lot of these abilities are pretty basic. One idea I might try is to have Sarah (the archer detective from Mick's flashback) have the ability to sit out of battle, instead taking a pre-emptive shot to reduce enemy HP before the battle starts. Again, not sure if I'll do this, as it would require making two of every enemy that she can encounter: one with full HP and one with the arrow in its butt.

Another ability I'm thinking about is that of the dragon, Nimuay. Already she has flame breath, but I was thinking about taking that a step furthur in an ice dungeon she accompanies the player into. Obviously, having an ice dungeon means slippery floors. Well, I was thinking about her being able to melt the icey floors to allow for easy travel.

I'm still trying to plan out what will be available in the special item slots in the custom menu. The newest demo has Veggies for MP restoring, and a Shuriken Kit for Mick's shuriken-throwing battle skill. One thing I think I'll include is a hidden beastiary of some sort, allowing the player to look up info on various enemies in the current dungeon. I might even use this at one point to expose the weakness of an otherwise difficult optional boss. Assuming I have optional bosses.

As far as story goes, I've added a new character to the roster. His name is Roger, and he accompanies Detective Sarah as part of a peace corps during Mick's flashback. I haven't thought of a definitive personality or abilities, yet, but he probably won't be anything special since the two characters seem to disappear after Mick's flashback. Reason I'm putting him in is because it really didn't make sense to me that only one person would be investigating the appearance of the dragonites. There's actually another character added as well, a person who is looking into the dragonite appearance from another direction. Not sure who he is or will be, yet, but it's not important right now since he's not around during Mick's flashback.

    Re: The Spoiler Topic

I'm gonna try something a little different this time. See, I've been making progress on my game, and I'm rather proud of the progress I've made, small as it is. And of course, with that pride comes the need to show it off.

So for this edition of The Spoiler Topic, I am uploading my work-in-progress for you to download. All you need to know is it is an RPGM2 .max file, and the file is save #6. Oh, and don't check the vase under the tree more than once. Since I apparently can't attatch files outside of the submission forum (and this isn't something I want outside of my spoilering), you'll have to go HERE to grab it. (You have to be signed in to see the download.)

Hm? You ask what I'm doing uploading an RPGM2 file, when [game which shall not be mentioned by name] is on RPGM1? If you really want to know, you merely need to play what I'm uploading. Feel free to give me comments on what you see, but make sure you keep it a secret from everyone else.
