I'm still working on my game, the thread.

It's been a while since I posted. I am slowly threading a plot for my game. It is nice already having the fields layed out. I let Perversion, Pagerron and Libra demo the fields. They, especially Pagerron, gave me a lot of positive feedback.

Anyways, I am shaping the game for the RPGM Mag's contest, mainly because contests help motivate me. At first, I was going to make a sequel to that second to last fantasy, just cause it was so open ended that I could do whatever I wanted. But I was talking to Vonwert, and he suggested making a game based off Whispers.

    It is shaping up well.

Whoa...you're doing a sequel to Whispers? That should be cool...you guys are both good at setting a mood.

    So how's it going?

Thanks OB. To clarify: I am doing a prequel to Whispers, not a sequel.

It's going well, but very slow. Here's my opening:

So far, Lex get's reproved in school. He is sent to a boarding school in France. En route, a storm hits and his body washes up on an unknown island. He is twelve years old and finds himself in an entirely new environment, a place of strangers, derelicts and shadows. The mystery unravels.

      My game will still have:

      -No battles
      -Much exploration
      -Much story and character development

      And new things:

No storytellers (all cutscenes are in-game, which I am finding is a much better way of doing cutscenes.)

I am trying to take my time as much as possible, really feel it out before diving in. I want to make a very high-quality, interesting, playable game. If anyone is really interested in seeing where I am, I wouldn't mind sending a demo, but there isn't much besides the opening, and all the wide open (six) fields.

The game is still called Lex, even though I recently found out that that is what Vonwert called an RPGM1 demo game he made. I just can't think of anything better right now, though in light of that I really want to call it something else. Perhaps, Lexxy.

          MAJOR UPDATE

So I've been working on my game quite a bit and well I just gotta tell you all about this awesome progression of events I have worked out:

The game starts with you being tossed out of an airship (you won't believe it but I got one to look just like the airships in SMB3) and then you are in this forest where you find this ice cave from the future that takes you to the past. There are all these people frozen in ice, whom you have to dethaw (the effects are amazing, especially considering I got it done on RPGM3). Anyways, the cave ends up leading to the middle of a volcanoe, you have to try to tight rope across this rope while lave is shooting up everywhere around you, and you are carrying the baby jesus (this gets explained in more detail in the plot). I know it will blow some people's minds. But you have to see it to believe it!

Plus, you are Lex, the main character from Whispers!!!

          Oh man.

NOW we're talking. MY mind is definitely blown, and all along who knew that Lex Johnson had such a sordid past, or is it future. Sweet!!! I can't wait to see the shooting lava and the tightrope. I guess I'll have to though. That's stinks. Hurry up and finish it Irate Giraffe.

              On a serious note though:

Irate Giraffe, are you still making this prequel to Whispers in the Woods for the mag contest?

I hope so because the maps that I saw when I checked it out were really cool.
