what makes concervapedia extra awesome is that it was created by homeschooled (sheltered) students who pretty much admit they can't stand other people's opinions.
Polls show that about twice as many Americans identify themselves as "conservative" compared with "liberal", and that ratio has been increasing for two decades.[1] But on Wikipedia, about three times as many editors identify themselves as "liberal" compared with "conservative".[2] That suggests Wikipedia is six times more liberal than the American public.
Conservapedia is a much-needed alternative to Wikipedia, which is increasingly anti-Christian and anti-American. On Wikipedia, many of the dates are provided in the anti-Christian "C.E." instead of "A.D.", which Conservapedia uses. Christianity receives no credit for the great advances and discoveries it inspired, such as those of the Renaissance.
"At first it just looked like a picture of a bunch of lily pads, but then I started scraping at it with my pocket knife and the whole painting just sort of spoke to me," Schmidt said. "For the first time, I finally understand what Monet was trying to get across in her work."
Reading a couple of the articles, I was sure this was a thinly-veiled joke... and this is ME speaking, the guy who takes things way to literally... and then I looked through some of the development pages, and became more and more convinced it's real.
Pretty amazing, that they think that "conservative" means "correct." It's, by definition, contradictory. ("Liberal" = "correct" would be just as contradictory, of course.)
Wikipedia's users are more liberal than average simply because of psychographics and intelligence--but the "bias" almost never bleeds into the articles. Oh well, I'm sure everyone reading this topic knows that already.
What I find both hilarious and sad is calling use of the Common Era name "anti-Christian." I believe it's that logic that led to fascist policy being dubbed "The PATRIOT Act," the convergence of Religion and Schools being called "Intelligent Design Theory," and the blatant disregard of female welfare being dubbed "Pro-Life."
It's disgusting. I can't go anywhere without seeing pictures of Jesus Christ or Anna Nicole Smith. There's part of me that can't wait for a country like China to blow our nation's economy out of the water, because it feels like it's going to be the only thing that will get us focused on what's important.
EDIT: I had a great idea to see what their article for "Harry Potter" would be like... I have to say, this particular one is not quite as bad as I thought it would be. http://www.conservapedia.com/Harry_Potter
EDIT 2: WOW... Just read the link from Garr, and it seems they made both a spelling error and a factual error in a nine-word article about Japan. Yeah. TWO ERRORS IN NINE WORDS. It's starting to feel oddly appropriate that they call themselves conservAPEdia.
referred to in the Bible nine times, which provides an unimpeachable de facto argument for their once having been in existence
My parents allowed me watch nothing but PBS as a kid. His: 700 Club.
EDIT: WOW. I just got done rummaging around on this site. I love how anything science-related is summed up in one sentence, like "galaxy," "star," and "sun" (I couldn't help myself-- I searched for astronomy terms first ).
