I found this interesting.
It pretty much sums up why I rarely listen to rap music; my primary reason being because of the rampant use of the n-word and the perpetuation of negative black stereotypes (but this is a whole other topic in itself). I sincerely hope that the music industry takes the criticism to heart and revamps this degraded genre of music, but I sincerely doubt much will change. Until people refuse to consume the crap that these "artists" are putting out, they'll continue to saturate the radio with their trash.
On a side note, Den and I were in the mall last weekend, and we passed in front of an urban clothing store, which was blaring a refrain of "I wanna f--- you, f--- you..." It was astonishing to see how families walked in and out of that store, shopped for clothes, and never once complained about the foul lyrics.

I feel so conflicted-- there are some artists that I really like, but some of their lyrics really turn me off to the rest of their works.
