    Elijah, Becoming

That is the working title for my game. The main character, a 12 year old kid, is named Elijah. And the game is about his becoming (a man, I know kinda cliche).

Anyways, I worked on my game a lot this weekend. Got my first town/quest sorted out. Got about 12 characters and everything. The beginnings of the game are taking shape. I am quite happy.

I let Perversion and Libra demo my fields and tour. They may post their impressions, if they wish.

Just a quick run-down: my game, on RPGM3, will be an adventure game. There will be no battles. The gameplay will be divided between exploration and communication. It will also be E for Everyone. I was going to do a thing where you pick the rating you wish to play (M or E), but I don't think I'll have enough memory.

If I’ve got the map or if I’m lost.

Sounds interesting, and the "no battles" idea I think will work out well

What happens in the first quest? Or are you going to keep that a secret

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

      Re: Elijah, Becoming

Thanks for the quick reply. I want to give out some story hints. But it's hard for two reasons:

First, right now, I really don't have enough of it put together to give adequate teasers or introductions. It's all too much in flux.

Second, even when I do, since the story is the meat of the game, it is hard for me to decide where to start and when to stop.

So I'll give more generalizations about the gameplay. There will be a lot of decision making in the game. Some of the decisions will effect how the game folds out. All of the decisions will affect the 'metal health' of your character (Elijah). I am still working this out, but suffice to say, if your character is too optimistic/happy or too pessimestic/depressed at the end of the game, you will lose. I want a rounded scale, not some dumb black/white thing, but it is really hard to work it out.

But, anyways, when I do have the story more flushed out, perhaps I will post some story stuff, just for you JPS.

Sounds cool...REALISM: the fine line b/w optimism and pessimism. This would be pretty easy to track with just one variable.

I am quite confindent that this has nothing to do with your game, which is about Necromancers and fighting event battles triggered by talking. It deals with one character who is a child in one part, and a grown-up in the second. Atredes' game is about a young boy who remains a boy in the entire game, and it's primary role is that of exploration, and no random battles, if ANY. Any RPG can be about growing up, it just depends on what direction you want to take in having the character grow up. My game is about growing up, but it's a girl and you follow a story to do so and have various options for EXP. I think Atredes' is going to be more about exploring your enviornment and experiancing the people around you. Hell, Obright's is about growing up (and he needs to RELEASE HIS GAME!) and that's just the tip of the iceburg.

So, no, this isn't a copy of your game, and there is no need to use so many question marks

If there WAS even a chance of an M-rated version, you wouldn't be allowed to play it due to your age, so why even request it?
