Star Ocean III, What do you guys think?

I'm really digging it. What about the rest of you? Is it a long game?

Damn, lacroix sure is consistantly behind in all the great PS2 rpgs. I love it.

I havn't finished it. I thought it was very similar to SO2 and it was a very good transition to 3D. It also had a very nice background world to it. It's future settings are what Xenogears should have been.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I never got past the very beginning, not for lack of trying, and besides, I was playing at a friend's house and had to go...

It took me 80 hours to beat, but 10 of those hours were spent power leveling.
        It was okay.

          I like it. It's fun.

At least the voices are better than Baten Katos.

It was ok, I never finished it.

It lacked the weird attractive innovation that Star Ocean II had. The graphics in SOIII are incredibly well done.

            *spoiler???*

If the rest of the game had been like the first two or three hours, I would have loved it. But to go from such a futuristic setting to...old school fantasy RPG is just dumb. It would have been nice if it would ever get back, but it all just stays on the one planet for most of the game.

Meh, it could have been better. Beautiful presentation, but I wish the rest of the game would have been like the beginning.

Every Star Ocean game has had some OMGWTFBBQ twist to it.

I haven't touched this one yet. My gaming priorities are as such:

-STOP beefing up 4 PSO GC characters
                -Finish La Pucelle
                -Play & finish Phantom Brave
                -THEN maybe SO3

                So, uh, yeah.
THIS SONG IS NOISE AND STOP!!

                NOOOOISE!! *drums*

                STOP!!

                F@#$ OFF!!!

Eye from Destroy 2, Noise and Stop

I enjoyed the first half of the game, and was really getting into the characters and hoping they would get off the planet....but then came the second half of the game...and basically ruin any chance for a sequel...

Does Star Ocean III lose its charm about two-thirds of the way through like Star Ocean II did? When I played Star Ocean II I was all like "YO! BEST GAME EVER! WOW!" but then out of the blue it just seemed like it got so old so fast. It didn't help that the story was just plain AWFUL.

Yeah, wow, two whole planets, in a games called Star Ocean. Hell, Phantasy Star IV had more planets. They really need to make a SO game that involves actual space travel.

And yes, the story for SO2 sucked hard. And the voices (which you couldn't turn off) were the most terrible kind of crap. The worst example, the one that got on my nerves the most, was:

Claude(Notice how similar his name and attacks were to Cloud's???):

                      "That's somewhere around 80 points!"

...WHAT!? What the hell are you talking about!?

...And don't ever attack with...Rena, Bowman, Celine, Opera, Precis...as a matter of fact, don't do anything with any characters.

SO 2 got boring when you find that you had to do some long leveling up to beat the last couple bosses. Plus finding and talking to all your party members got boring fast.

Yes, I wish the developers would have dipped into the technological pool they had built.

That whole video game fighting in the beginning of SO3 could have been really cool, but NO, it disappears after..three minutes.

And so does all of the beauty. Like all of those fountains and everything in the hotel, why couldn't they explore that spectrum of planets?

I liked the battle system for Star Ocean 3 a lot.

Japanese RPG developers need to take their heads out of their butts and break the mold. Like Atlus.
