Where does your screenname come from?

Lo, I am fully aware that this has been asked before, but I am suddenly curious all over again. Mostly, this wave of curiousity was sparked by staring at the screen while reading one of Loki's posts, wherein I pondered the fact that when I normally hear the word Loki, I associate it with the Norse God, whereas while at the pavilion and I read Loki, I associate it with, well, our Loki. Until now I'd never actually dwelled on the fact that they share a name, strangely enough.

So I ask to all of you, where do your insane (or perhaps just inane) screennames come from?

As for me - my first SN here was Aznable, named after Char Aznable of Gundam 0079. When I started producing music and needing an artist name, Rena (who is my adopted sister, for those of you who don't know) suggest that I combine Aznable with Panda (a nickname of mine) thus giving us Pandable. Pandable could just mean "is able to be panda'd", or somewhat like a lunchable, but a panda. It could also mean "able to be myself", in keeping with my usage of the word Panda as my name in real life on occaision.

    No, I'm not a furry.

But yeah - how about you all?

I took "wert" from the keyboard and added Von to the front of it.

Re: Where does your screenname come from?

Although I might have some strange fetishes of sorts, that is not the reason behind my name. Originally, I was going to be Peng!33 (and I know it's against the rules, but I think that account still exists...if so, feel free to delete), but I forgot my password after a few posts. So instead, I changed my name to Perversion. Both are titles of Stereolab songs, and both are characters I used in PSO on the Dreamcast. Perversion in particular was a character I liked, as she was a cute little FOnewearl, set at minimum height in order to look like a little girl. She rocked when she got that wand with the hearts on the end of it that had pink hearts come out of it when she attacked. So, yeah, it wasn't my first choice of name, but it had to be better than another Stereolab song title I've used in the Pav chat before, which is incrediblehewoman. I used that moniker a lot when I was going through a, erm....confused stage in my life. So that's the story. And in reality, I am only slightly a pervert. As my RPG Maker games both (well, when the current one is released) feature the name Perversion in the credits, I don't want to change it now, and sort of enjoy being known as Perversion around in these here parts. That is all.

I killed a man, and stole his name.

Or at least, that's the lie I'd like to believe. In actually, I was trying to find an AOL screenname and nothing would work. I refused to be "Screename####" and had to be original. In a blind rage I typed something my brother mumbled when he was **** drunk. It sounded something like "Smurvis." And it accepted it. And it has for everything else I've ever tried to use it for.

It suits me perfectly. Random drunk babbling combined with blind rage. Except I don't drink.
          Keep the change.

H2SO4. It's a chemical mixture of the elements Hydrogen, Sulfur, and Oxygen. 2 Hydrogen's, 1 Sulfur, and 4 Oxygen atoms to be exact. But I assume you all knew that.

My name was originally Reuce, which is the name of my favorite FFXI character. I picked H2SO4 because it sounded cool. Yep, that's why. It sounded cool.

Anyway I got a cool avatar from google that fit with the name H2SO4, and thus, the hard-to-type-at-least-SHFC-thinks-so name was born.

A common abbreviation of my first name and the first syllable of my last name. Creative huh? I decided to use it because it matches all my emails and IM names and because whenever I use a screenname I like I eventually don't like it anymore, hence all the changing. But I figured if I started with one I didn't like to begin with I'd have no reason to change. Of course I've wanted to change it for a while now.

I came up with "Funkidelic" out of the blue. It was later shortened to just "Funk".

This was an old fake AOL account name, just one of many that I came up with when my friend and I were scamming free dial-up service back in like '95.

Actually I think I stole mine from a friend on an old video game.

My reasons haven't changed since I explained them two or three "Screenname Topic"s ago, so...

I was playing Final Fantasy 9, when the chance to name Zidane came up. I was (and still am) very fascinated with dragons, so of course I used 6 of the 7 letters available and named him "Dragon". Of course, that sounded stupid, so I quickly started pronouncing it with sorta an accent: Dray-gone. I liked the name so much that I used it for a character name in a game I've yet to release, and also took it for myself at the old Enix message boards (where I was either currently known as "Great Dragon" or "FireNinja"). Or maybe it was the other way around, taking the name for myself and then giving it to a character. I forget.

Well, in order for everyone to know how I was pronouncing it (as well as it was likely someone already registered the name "Dragon", espeically being the Enix Dragon Warrior boards), I added the "Y" and the "E" to the name. "Draygone". Well apparently I should have replaced the "O" with "AW" instead of adding an "E", because nobody I know can pronounce it right! It's Dray-gone, as in gone as in not here, not Drayg-own, as in own as in belonging to! But I digress. "Draygawn" looks stupid, anyway.

Eventually, I came across someone who's name actually was DrayGone. He told me it was his middle name or something, and it meant "heart of a dragon" in some language I forget. Which is way cool, considering how I came up with the name, how I'm using it, and my interest in dragons. Which reminds me. Sometime I'm going to have to create my dragon avatar for these boards. My posts look so plain.
...A plain avatar's better than no avatar, I guess.

My original AOL screenname from way back in 1992 or 1993, I believe. I was reading the Deathgate Cycle and I just picked Patryn23. When we moved to this board it got shortened to Patryn. I almost wanted to change it, but it was argued that people knew me as Patryn, so I've stayed Patryn.
