Playable Character FUN! (...or lack thereof)

Gots me two (2) *new* questions:

-To the best of everyone's knowledge is there anyway to make a character (in RM3) that is a member of your party that you cannot control in battle? Like an AI character?

-And, is there anyway to make two versions of a character while still preserving the stats/levels the character had earned so far? Like a young and then old version, or good/evil?

As far as I know of, no and no.

I think it is possible. However, I'm not sure because of RPGM 3's imited capabilities. You might be able to make a simple script where the character is removed from the party when the battle starts and added back in whenever the battle ends. I have been using PRGM 2 lately, so I forgot some stuff about RPGM 3, but I hope this helps

Nope, nope, unless someone has done some impressive work that I never heard about.

The only way I could see of doing this is by not giving out any experience points in random battles and then using a variable to track the level of the character and change the "old" character to the appropriate level in the event where he/she replaces the "young" model. It would take some figuring, but it could be possible, I believe. Not that I'm ready to try and write out all details because I haven't done it in my game.

Yeah, thats a benefit of non-random encounters. Otherwise, no. RPGM3 doesn't let you tamper with the battle scripts.

And RPG Maker 3 fails me yet again! I was hoping that they snuck an AI option away like they did in RM 1 because I was going to put in a hired soldier character who would fight with you but not be controled by the player directly, but that idea has been shot down in a firey blast from which no living thing can escape.
-the no random exp thing might still be workable for me, though. I got on a Breath of Fire kick of late and I think its cool how the main hero starts off as a little kid and you can fight with him and then later "grows up" so he's an adult but he still has the same stats (well, level anyway) as he did when he was small (three seconds ago). I was thinking either going to get really good at the variables thing or just putting in random encounters with such piddly ammounts of exp that nobody would really level their characters and then have the one hero "age" and just start it at level 15 or 20... Eitherway, you guys have been helpful while at the same time smashing my dreams into a billion itty bitsy pieces...
