    Phantasy Star Online Ep.1&2 Plus

recently i've been addicted to this game for gamecube. how is it that gameplay so simple is so damn addictive? i love it.

anyway, if anyone has any PSO stories, tips or whatever else, i'd like to hear them.

my favorite class are the RAngers. i made two characters so far: RoboCop, a RAcast who's about lvl 52. then i made a second character: Hunk(i made him resemble the Resident Evil guy as best as i could), a RAmar who's at lvl 43 right now. i switched from RoboCop to Hunk because i wanted some versatility with being able to use magic. i had a hard time with RoboCop because i was getting swarmed by enemies with no way to hit a whole group of them with something so they would back off while i get distance and shoot. i play offline by myself or with a couple of friends, and i usually gain my lvls and go searching for items by myself. that's why i changed to Hunk, so i could use group attack magic. and it works! =) i mean, i still get swarmed and i have real challenges on the Hard difficulty setting, but i'm having a slightly easier time. RoboCop section ID is Skyly and Hunk has Redria. i read that Redria section ID characters have a better chance at obtaining the God/Battle, God/Power things. that's actually another reason why i started using Hunk.

also, does anyone know what the best rifle or gun weapon is for rangers?

I had 3 memory cards, one of each character type. HUmar 140, RAcast 100, HUcast 110, FOmar 110, HUcaseal 90, HUnewearl 60, RAmar 50, and the rest of levels I don't remember, roughly in the 20-40 range. Used to play it all the time, until my friend (HUcast 160, RAcast 130, and two others 120+) got corrupted and lost all GameCube data for that memory card... he had a second memory card of four more characters, but it wasn't the same. He lost most of his stuff too. After that, we all lost interest.

If you really want to find the PSO crowd, check the Game Forums > Bush Forum. That's where the diehards are.

Also, PSU has a release/shipping date of October 24th. You should be able to find it in stores either then, or 25th. For PS2 and PC, or seperate serves for XBox 360. Improved gameplay and combat, 6 man parties, vehicles, dual wielding seperate weapon types, more worlds and bosses, and server-side characters to prevent cheating. Also, the offline game is a completely seperate game, a 30-40 hour RPG using the PSU combat system, with the option to unlock an EXTRA mode to make a custom character to play offline just for kicks. Good for people that like playing solo.
    Keep the change.

I'm currently playing Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst for the PC. You can play Episodes 1, 2 and 4. You can download that for free from the Sega website, but you need to still pay the monthly fee, which isn't a lot...only $9.

I have a character, a female Newman (forgot the abbreviation) named Nadie. I haven't used her in a while though since World of Warcraft takes up a lot of my MMO time.

It's a great game to play solo, but playing with a well-coordinated group can also be a blast, too.
Despite what you think, I am very, very real.

definitely. i love playing with others. it's really fun to help each other out when you see creatures moving behind your friends and you attack them just in time to save the day. =)

I have yet to play any Phantasy Star game, either online or regular RPG. One of the reasons I'm so excited about PSU.

I've invested probably over 1000 hours if you count my DC characters (then my DC got stolen), my second batch of DC characters (I started over with all of them), and my Xbox characters. I only went online with the DC, though. I'm not hooked up to broadband, so my Xbox characters were mainly played solo or sometimes split screen. I'll grant you that the majority of the time spent playing the DC version was spent online chatting, not really playing, but it's still time spent within PSO. I had one character with almost 400 hours, one with 200, and multiple others with 50-100. Then on the Xbox version, all my chatacters combined probably add up to over 200 hours. So yeah, lots o' time spent playing PSO.

I spent over 500 hours on Ep I & II. The most an RPG has ever gotten out
                of me YET.

Damn I loved that game, and now PSU will finally be here!

I recall using a C-Bringer's rifle, since I think it goes through other enemies in a line... I also used a ruby bullet, Yasminkov 3000R, and a suppressed gun with good hit %.

I love my EDIT: FoMar (i think that's the male human spellcaster)

Great spells, plus he can hold his own in melee.

Used to do online a bit. Anyone play PSOIII. I actually was one of the few who acually liked it.

                      HUmar is the human hunter.

                      I believe it's FOmar you're looking for.

I was always into the HUnewearls and FOnewearls...those were my characters of choice. Although, my highest level character in EP I and II is the Human Female Ranger (whatever her designation is). I think she is the best overall character in EP I and II. Decent magic, decent HP and DEF, and the ability to use all the powerful guns, which is especially important when you undergo any Ultimate dungeons. Call me a pansy, but screw melee in Ultimate. Screw techniques too. Guns are the way to go. And it's funny, because on the DC version, I had probably 5 or 6 characters (maybe more) and only one was a Ranger. It was the robot chick...yes...all my characters were female. The only male characters I had were used to store items to give to other characters at a later date. Hell, I bought an extra controller for my Xbox specifically for the purpose of transferring items between characters. And then I somehow corralled my GF into playing it with me. She did for a while, but at that point, I had started to lose interest in PSO...I've not played it in probably close to a year, if not longer. Maybe I should turn it on one day, and spend a few hours, reminiscing about the old days....

Yeah when I grouped I had a sick FOnuwearl but when I was playing solo I had to use either a RAcaseal or a HUmar.

The only advantages the 'casts had in the Dreamcast version was they were not affected by status ailments, and could only be electrocuted. No techniques, which is why I never used em. In the Xbox version, there is one boss fight at the end of mines, where, on very hard, you need 10 monomates, 10 dimates, 10 trimates, and 10 monofluids, 10 difluids, and 10 trifluids (all used specifically for healing purposes). That fight sucked, because, now, even humans and newman can get shorted out by lightning. It was pretty much inevitable to get hit by lightning by that thing at the center of the room, and you would end up not being able to heal. Then the lightning would hit you again, and your HP would almost be gone. Finally, you are able to heal, so you do, and take a few shots at one of those totems that come up out of the floor, and repeat the cycle. I think I've spent upwards of 45 minutes fighting that damned battle. As a matter of fact, I'd much rather fight Dark Falz than that battle. Hell, I'd rather fight the last boss at the end of EP II (that huge guy that lumbers around trying to step on you) than mines in very hard. Wait, maybe it was the boss of one of the EP II levels...I don't remember. I just know it sucked.
